We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Mill Superintendent to lead and oversee mill operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production in alignment with company objectives and operational standards.
In this role, you will plan, coordinate, direct, monitor, and control all mill activities and personnel to achieve production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence. You will be responsible for optimizing the use of personnel, equipment, and resources, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration across operational and support teams. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering sustainable production performance.

In collaboration with the Manager, Mill, oversee and implement mill production programs and operations to maximize process performance while minimizing operation costs.

Provide assistance in setting production targets, ensure mill throughput matches the mining plan and correct or address issues as they arise.

Set and effectively communicate targets and standards to operational personnel.
- →
Assist in establishing budget costs and control.
- →
Supervise the execution and implementation of the mill plans and targets.
- →
Supervise the implementation of operational programs, processes and policies to meet organizational governance requirements and standards.

Utilize human resources to safely, effectively and efficiently perform all required activities to meet targets.

Apply strategies and tactics in a professional and ethical manner in grievance resolutions.

Prioritize and actively participate in mine/mill activities to enhance/ maximize process.

Liaison with the Security Department to minimize security risks associated with ore processing.

Provide strategy and recommendations

Assist in the development of overall strategy for mill development and production.

Evaluate options and recommend short- and long-term projects to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness of mill operations.

Stay abreast of mining laws and safety regulations and issue directives to direct reports to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations.

Provide leadership to the Mill Operations team.

Build an appropriate team through recruitment and development.
- →
Provide clear work objectives and expectations required to achieve business plans and production targets.

Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the current and future requirements of the mill.

Ensure the required manpower and equipment is in place to achieve forecasted production, while meeting budgeted costs.

Manage performance by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, providing feedback and coaching direct reports.

Promote and maintain a high-performance culture.
Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in mineral processing or mill operations within the mining industry.
At least 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience in a processing plant environment.
Strong knowledge of milling and mineral processing operations.
Experience with production planning, metallurgical accounting, and performance monitoring.
Understanding of process control systems, operational reporting, and plant optimization techniques.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and multicultural work environment.
Willingness to work in Brokopondo on a rotational schedule of 14 days on duty followed by 7 days off.
A valid Proof of Good Conduct (Bewijs van Goed Gedrag) is required upon selection and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
