AI Principal Engineer - India

About the Opportunity:

We are looking for an AI Principal to define and drive the end-to-end technical vision for Dara’s AI capabilities, spanning LLM orchestration, MCP tooling, event-driven architectures, and graph-based document intelligence. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will architect solutions, develop production-grade code, mentor engineers, and collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver innovative AI solutions within a modern mortgage servicing platform.

Your Day-to-Day at Sagent:

• Own and drive the AI/ML technical roadmap for the Dara MCP platform. 
  • Define scalable reference architectures for LLM orchestration, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and document intelligence solutions. 
  • Design MCP server topology, tool contracts, and Streamable HTTP implementation patterns. 
  • Establish and govern event-driven AI architecture standards utilizing Kafka and distributed messaging systems. 
  • Drive graph data model evolution and Neo4j architecture aligned to industry standards and business needs. 
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies, frameworks, cloud services, and third-party platforms to support strategic initiatives. 
  • Lead proof-of-concept efforts, technology assessments, and architectural due diligence activities. 
  • Develop and maintain core AI services using Python and TypeScript. 
  • Design and implement Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) review workflows and confidence-based decisioning mechanisms. 
  • Define and implement CI/CD, observability, and MLOps best practices for AI platforms. 
  • Partner with Mortgage Servicing SMEs to translate complex business requirements into scalable AI solutions. 
  • Review and approve solution designs for document extraction, classification, and automation capabilities. 
  • Ensure consistency and governance across Azure APIM, OAuth2, RBAC, and enterprise security implementations. 
  • Present architectural strategies, technical recommendations, and roadmap decisions to executive and product stakeholders.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• 10+ years of software engineering and solution architecture experience, with significant exposure to AI/ML platforms and enterprise applications. 
  • Deep expertise in Large Language Models, including Claude Sonnet, GPT-4, Gemini, and enterprise AI implementations. 
  • Strong experience designing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, including chunking strategies, embeddings, reranking, citations, and vector search. 
  • Expertise in prompt engineering, structured outputs, few-shot learning, and advanced AI workflow design. 
  • Experience architecting large-scale document intelligence platforms for extraction, classification, OCR, and automation use cases. 
  • Strong understanding of Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) workflows, confidence-threshold models, and AI quality assurance practices. 
  • Expertise in Model Context Protocol (MCP) architecture, server design, and AI tool integration patterns. 
  • Extensive experience with Apache Kafka, Confluent Kafka, and event-driven platform architectures. 
  • Deep knowledge of Neo4j graph databases, schema design, ontology mapping, and graph-based intelligence solutions. 
  • Strong programming expertise in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, SQL, and scripting technologies. 
  • Experience with Azure APIM, Entra ID, OAuth2, RBAC, and enterprise security frameworks. 
  • Hands-on experience with GCP Vertex AI, model deployment, orchestration, and cloud-native AI solutions. 
  • Familiarity with modern AI tooling such as LlamaIndex, LlamaParse, LlamaExtract, embedding models, and Claude APIs. 
  • Experience working within mortgage servicing, loan origination, financial services, or other regulated environments is strongly preferred. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills with the ability to influence technical direction across teams.
