Sandy Lane, an exclusive AAA Five Diamond, Forbes Five Star exclusive resort and a member of Leading Hotels of the World, is seeking to recruit Stewards for our Stewarding Department.

The Role

The Steward will report to the Executive Chief Steward and the Chief Steward and will be responsible for assisting the Stewarding Supervisors and maintaining the kitchen standards for sanitation and cleanliness

Key Responsibilities:

 Assist with the Set up and breakdown of all functions as required

• Check to ensure that all the equipment is in good working condition and ensures that the units are clean, and in good working order.
• Ensure that all sanitation standards are maintained including but not limited to the cleaning of
  • All Kitchens
  • Walls, Floors
  • Ice Machines, Equipment, Fridges
  • All Loading Docks
  • All Store Rooms
• Ensure the service area is kept clean and organized throughout the daily operations
• Ensure that all dirty dishes are returned to the kitchen and the dirty glasses are stacked on the racks
• Ensure that all cleaning Schedules and policies are adhered to.
• Clean all the equipment and reports any broken or missing items
• Drive the delivery truck when required to do so and assists with packing and unpacking of equipment, utensils, food and beverage items
• Ensure that all buffet areas are properly sanitized and set up for meal periods as per standard.

Our preferred candidate must possess:

• A good secondary education with passes in CXC English Language and Mathematics
• One year’s experience in a similar position preferably in a hotel environment
• A valid heavy duty driver’s license would be an asset
• Good customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Good communication skills with both internal and external guests
• Ability to anticipate needs and be flexible in meeting requests
• Ability to remain calm, objective and courteous under pressure and in stressful situations
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  

The successful candidate must be in excellent physical condition to perform extensive walking, bending, lifting and stretching. It is a requirement that the candidate must have a flexible working style as long hours are required from time to time.
