Assist with tax reporting, compliance, planning and tax audits to maximize tax savings opportunities that contribute to shareholder value while fulfilling tax payment and reporting obligations. The Resideo Tax team strives to timely and accurately manage the taxes related to Resideo operations. This includes accurate and efficient filing, audit defense, analyzing areas of possible over payment and overseeing operating processes related to the company's tax incentives. Support the preparation of Resideo's Federal/Foreign income tax expense (both current and deferred) for financial statement purposes. Work with internal and external service providers to ensure accurate reporting. Contribute to Resideo's operational success by ensuring that Resideo is in compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
JOB DUTIES:
- Support the maintenance of customer tax exemption statuses by processing documentation.
- Assist in setting up customer accounts with appropriate tax exempt status, following established procedures.
- Contribute to the validation and approval process for tax credits on customer accounts.
- Collaborate with the credit team to resolve routine sales tax issues.
- Follow up with customers to retrieve expired tax certificates.
- Provide support for internal and external customer inquiries related to sales tax matters.
- Perform basic analysis of sales tax data to identify discrepancies or trends.
- Contribute to documentation and adherence to SOX process requirements.
Requirements
~1 min read- 1–2 years of professional experience in a finance, accounting, or tax support role, or a recent graduate with relevant internships.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.
- Familiarity with foundational tax software or systems.
- Basic knowledge of United States and Canadian sales tax laws.
- Developing presentation skills for internal team updates.
- Foundational professional knowledge in finance or accounting.
- Ability to apply learned concepts to defined problems.
- Developing analytical skills to support routine data analysis.
- Computer proficiency, including basic use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills for basic customer and team interactions.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in task execution.
- Ability to work effectively under close supervision and mentorship.
- Developing problem-solving skills for applying standard methods to straightforward issues.
