Senior Software Engineer — UI Team
Quick Summary
decompose problems, run agents in parallel, review their output critically, and continuously improve the tools, prompts, and skills that make them sharper. Build interfaces people love.
Scality is a leader in software-defined storage at petabyte scale. Our ADI, RING and ARTESCA solutions help the world's most demanding organizations manage and protect their fastest-growing asset: unstructured data. We're an international team that ships real software to real customers — and we're rethinking what storage management should feel like in a world where the operator might be a human, an agent, or both.
About the Role
~2 min readWe're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who thinks like a product owner and builds like a craftsperson.
As a senior individual contributor, you'll own the experiences that let customers install, upgrade, monitor, and configure our storage systems at scale — from the React interface they touch, to the Go APIs behind it, to the Kubernetes operators that run it all in production. You will drive feature delivery from idea to production and serve as a technical mentor to the team, sharing your expertise and fostering best practices. This is a hands-on role within a team that has a technology roadmap; your impact comes from your individual craft and technical influence.
You'll also help define how we build. We're making our products agentic-first — and that means you won't just write code, you'll direct a fleet of AI agents that write, test, and ship alongside you. We're looking for engineers who are genuinely good at this: who know how to break down work for agents, evaluate what comes back, build the tools and skills that make agents more effective, and raise the ceiling on what a team can deliver.
The engineers who thrive here treat agent orchestration as a core skill, not a novelty.
You will work within a team of 7 software engineers with 1 product owner being also our UX designer and be part of the Scality Engineering division structured in pods aligned with a product specialization.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Own outcomes end to end. Take a customer problem from idea to production across the full stack — UI, REST API, and operator — and measure success by whether the end user's life got better.
- →Direct a fleet of AI agents. Use Claude Code (or similar) as a daily multiplier: decompose problems, run agents in parallel, review their output critically, and continuously improve the tools, prompts, and skills that make them sharper.
- →Build interfaces people love. Design and ship responsive, intuitive web experiences in React 18+ that make complex storage operations feel simple.
- →Build the systems behind them. Develop REST APIs in Go and Kubernetes operators that deploy and manage UI components reliably in production.
- →Make it observable. Instrument what you ship with Prometheus so it's measurable, debuggable, and trustworthy.
- →Shape the product. Work directly with product managers, designers, and engineers to decide what's worth building — not just how.
- →Raise the bar. Review code, write docs, improve our processes, and leave every part of the system better than you found it.
- →Mentor team members by sharing your technical expertise and fostering best practices, while maintaining your primary focus on delivering high-impact, end-to-end features for our customers.
- →Strong product instinct: you care about the end user and you've shipped things people actually use.
- →A track record of end-to-end ownership across frontend and backend — you're not boxed into one layer.
- →Demonstrated skill with agentic software engineering (Claude Code or similar): you've used AI agents to ship real work and have opinions about how to do it well.
- →Strong proficiency in React 18+ and modern TypeScript/JavaScript.
- →Proficiency in Go for backend and API development.
- →Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
- →Solid REST API design sense, and familiarity with OIDC for authentication.
- →Experience with UI bundling systems (RSPACK or Webpack) and monitoring with Prometheus.
- →Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
- →Fluent English, written and spoken, and comfortable in an international team.
