Scopely is seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager Cloud Data Platform to join our Playgami team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis!

Responsibilities
~2 min readThis is a technical leadership role focused on platform ownership, reliability, scalability, and efficiency. You will lead a team responsible for the infrastructure and tooling around our data warehouse and ensure the platform enables teams to move fast while maintaining high standards of quality, cost control, and security.
- →Own the architecture, reliability, and performance of the cloud data platform built on GCP
- →Manage and mentor a team of data platform engineers
- →Ensure the scalability and stability of core components, including BigQuery, DBT, Composer (Airflow), and Looker
- →Define and implement best practices for infrastructure as code using Terraform
- →Act as the owner of platform administration (tool admin) across the data stack, ensuring proper configuration, access, and lifecycle management
- →Enforce data access and permission models in alignment with Data Governance policies, ensuring secure and compliant usage of data
- →Monitor platform performance and reliability, defining how tools are observed, measured, and improved over time
- →Optimize cost and performance across the platform, especially in BigQuery and orchestration workloads
- →Define and promote best practices across the data platform, ensuring consistency, scalability, and maintainability
- →Improve observability, monitoring, and incident response processes
- →Drive platform standardization and reduce fragmentation across tools and workflows
- →Partner with data engineering, analytics, and governance teams to ensure the platform meets their needs
- →Ensure strong security and access controls in collaboration with Security and Governance teams
- →Lead the evaluation and adoption of new tools and technologies when needed
- →Support high availability and disaster recovery strategies

- BI and semantic layer, Looker
- Infrastructure as code, Terraform
- Monitoring, logging, performance, and cost management tooling
- Access management and permissions model across the data platform
- 6 to 10 years of experience in data platform, data engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles
- 2+ years of experience managing or mentoring engineers
- Strong experience with GCP, especially BigQuery and IAM
- Solid understanding of modern data stack tools such as DBT and Airflow
- Experience managing infrastructure through Terraform or similar tools
- Good understanding of data platform reliability, scalability, and cost optimization
- Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes
- Ability to balance technical depth with team leadership and stakeholder collaboration
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
Nice to Have
