Job Overview
This position is responsible for welcoming guests to the annual San Diego County Fair and ensuring proper admission at the gates, providing excellent customer service for the ticketing department.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monitors that all patrons, guests, staff, exhibitors, and contractors have proper tickets or credentials before allowing them to enter.
- Resolves any scanning issues in a timely and respectful manner.
- Understands and explains ticketing policies and procedures to customers.
- Provides hand stamps to customers who are temporarily leaving the facilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed.
- Operates ticket scanning equipment and provides guidance for other employees in its proper use.
- Adheres to opening and closing procedures for assigned gates.
- Prevents the admittance of persons without tickets or credentials at ticket gate.
- Provides excellent customer service by interacting courteously, answering questions accurately, and resolving complaints for customers attending events.
- Promotes the District's F.A.I.R. values by creating a quality guest experience for both internal and external customers.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to quickly learn the layout of the fairgrounds and general information.
- Ability to work cooperatively with team members and others.
- Must be detail-oriented and a quick learner.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a fast-paced environment at gate entrances, indoors and outdoors.
- Job duties require the ability to be stationary and stand for extended periods of time.
- Work may require moving supplies of up to 20 pounds.
- Work may involve a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Repetitive motions are necessary when using ticket scanners.
- Work may involve exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, and exhaust fumes.
