Job Overview
This position controls and directs traffic on the streets expediting traffic flow in a safe and orderly manner.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
· Controls and directs the flow of vehicles on street areas into the Fairgrounds or parking areas by applying traffic control practices and regulations in a safe and efficient manner.
· Provides clear guidance to drivers approaching traffic control zones.
· Stays alert and maneuvers quickly to avoid danger from unsafe drivers.
· Uses appropriate signals and traffic signs to direct the flow of vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians crossing the streets.
· Receives, understands, and communicates effectively with team to conduct the flow of traffic.
· Sets-up, positions, and removes traffic cones, traffic signs, barricades, etc. to divert traffic.
· Maintains assigned position, rotating where needed.
· Reports all traffic safety concerns, accidents, or incidents to supervisor immediately.
· Provides directions and customer service in a courteous manner.
· Promotes the District's F.A.I.R. values by creating a quality guest experience for both internal and external customers.
Qualifications
· Excellent customer service, communication skills, and team player.
· Certification required (class will be provided).
· Ability to work cooperatively with team members and others.
· Applicants must be 18+ to apply due to the nature of the work being performed, which may involve working on active busy streets.
· Applicant must be able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours) without leaning, squatting, sitting, or using physical supports, as the role requires continuous on-site presence and mobility
Working Conditions
· Stands, walks, and moves for sustained periods.
· Moves objects at least 30 pounds.
· Repetitive motions using hands, wrists, and/or arms.
· Works outdoors and is exposed to weather conditions, dust, dirt, and exhaust fumes.
· Involves some exposure to hazards or physical risk that require following safety precautions.
· Works a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
