Additional March, April, and May dates will be TBD. During this period, the Site Assistant can expect to help virtually for 2–3 hours per week with projects.
Founded in 1963 during the Civil Rights Movement, SEO closes educational and career opportunity gaps for 7,000 ambitious young people annually.
The 12th Grade Site Assistant supports the operations of SEO Saturday Academy and virtual Weekday Programming and completes other programming tasks as necessary.
The Site Assistant will support day-to-day Saturday Academy operations, including Scholar and instructor check-in, program technology setup, classroom technology support, distribution and collection of loaner technology, lunch and snack coordination, and end-of-day closing procedures. The Site Assistant will also support virtual weekday attendance, Saturday shipment preparation, 12th grade data entry, college recommendation uploads, Scholar and family outreach, and other programming projects as needed.
The Site Assistant will also assist with operations surrounding the 12th grade graduation ceremony.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Support Scholar check-in by welcoming Scholars and instructors.
- Answer questions regarding the day's events and direct SEO members to different on-campus spaces.
- Set up program technology, including attendance trackers and barcode scanners.
- Provide projector and adapter support to instructors as needed.
- Distribute loaner technology to Scholars as needed and ensure the timely return of materials.
- Pick up and distribute Scholar lunch on site.
- Assist with organizing snacks and other necessary Saturday materials.
- Provide needed medication to Scholars in accordance with defined protocols.
- Support end-of-day closing procedures by moving program materials to storage and replenishing snacks.
- Welcome Scholars and promote their connection to the program and investment in the learning experience.
- Assist with taking attendance for virtual 12th grade weekday and Writing Center sessions Tuesday through Friday between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM as needed.
- Support Saturday shipment preparation in the SEO office.
- 12th Grade Data and Programming Support
- Assist with the SEO recommendation process by uploading recommendations to Common App.
- Conduct outreach via phone and text to Scholars and families as needed regarding pressing opportunities, deadlines, and attendance.
- Assist with other necessary 12th grade data entry and programming projects.
- The Site Assistant will also be expected to assist with operations surrounding the 12th grade graduation ceremony.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience working with high school students and in the college access and persistence space.
- Highly resourceful and solutions-oriented, with the flexibility to work in both in-person and virtual environments when needed.
- Ability to lift and carry boxes up to 30 pounds.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and handle challenging priorities.
- Comfortable with and skilled at working with and navigating technological learning systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
