At Astacio Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical, we’re looking for a skilled and customer-focused Drain Technician to join our team in Norwalk, CT. You’ll complete residential drain-cleaning service calls, operate professional cable and jetting equipment, perform camera inspections, and help homeowners understand the best solutions for their plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Complete residential drain-cleaning, cable, and hydro-jetting work during in-home service calls.

  • Diagnose and clear stoppages using small- and large-sized drain-cleaning machines.

  • Perform camera inspections for mainline stoppages and other sewer or drain concerns.

  • Identify drain and sewer problems and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Clearly explain diagnosed issues, service options, and the features and benefits of each recommendation.

  • Obtain customer approval before beginning any work.

  • Identify opportunities to recommend additional products or services that benefit the customer.

  • Remove and reset toilets and P-traps when required to complete drain-cleaning work.

  • Complete accurate service notes, estimates, photos, and customer documentation.

  • Maintain assigned truck inventory and restock parts to required minimum levels.

  • Operate all equipment safely and wear required personal protective equipment.

  • Maintain a clean work area and protect customers’ homes throughout each service call.

  • Communicate professionally with customers, office staff, and coworkers.

  • Address customer concerns promptly and work toward a positive resolution.

  • Participate in required staff meetings, technical training, and professional development.

  • Previous drain cleaning, sewer, plumbing, or related service experience preferred.

  • Ability to operate small- and large-sized drain-cleaning equipment safely.

  • Experience with cable machines, hydro-jetting equipment, and sewer cameras preferred.

  • Basic understanding of residential plumbing and drain systems.

  • Ability to remove and reset toilets and P-traps.

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Comfortable discussing service options and recommending additional solutions when appropriate.

  • Professional communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to remain calm and courteous when assisting frustrated customers.

  • Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and detail.

  • Reliable attendance and the ability to work independently.

  • Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, and field service software.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to perform physical work in basements, crawl spaces, bathrooms, and outdoor conditions.
