We are seeking a motivated and people-oriented Team Lead to provide guidance and foster growth within one of our engineering teams responsible for developing globally distributed SophosLabs Intelix cloud services. SophosLabs Intelix services provide advanced threat intelligence, cloud-based malware analysis, and real-time detection capabilities, empowering organizations to proactively defend against sophisticated cyberattacks.

In this role, you will primarily focus on leadership, strategic thinking, and deliver measurable impacts. Your goal will be to foster an environment where individuals can reach their highest potential by removing obstacles, building trust, encouraging accountability, and driving continuous improvement. You will also play a key role in accelerating AI adoption within your team, offering guidance, support, and exemplary leadership to boost efficiency, effectiveness, and quality.

While you don’t need to be the most technically skilled person on the team, it’s important that you collaborate well with technical teams, understand the relevant trade-offs, and help facilitate well-informed engineering decisions.

You will collaborate with engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders, prioritizing clear communication, tangible results, and lasting progress.

The role is mostly remote within Hungary, with regular in-person team and social gatherings.

Lead, support, and develop a high‑performing team through clear direction, trust, and regular feedback

Create a positive, inclusive team culture with strong ownership, accountability, and psychological safety

Proactively identify and remove impediments that slow down progress or reduce team effectiveness

Actively drive AI adoption within the team:

Enable and support the everyday use of AI tools and workflows
Lead by example through hands‑on usage to increase productivity and delivery speed
Coach individuals on growth, performance, and career development
Enable clear communication among team members and stakeholders
Facilitate planning, prioritization, and execution with an emphasis on achieving meaningful business outcomes rather than focusing solely on procedural adherence
Promote ongoing enhancement in work practices, collaborative efforts, and overall quality
Bridge technical and business discussions to ensure alignment and understanding

Excellent English communication skills, spoken and written

Proven people leadership skills with a strong focus on empathy, trust, and accountability

A great attitude: proactive, solutions‑oriented, and ownership‑driven

Proven skill in recognising potential issues and risks promptly, and responding to them in a positive and effective manner

Strong coaching and feedback skills; comfortable having both supportive and challenging conversations

Able to manage upwards

Clear enthusiasm for AI adoption, with a track record of:

Learning new tools quickly
Encouraging others to experiment and improve
Using AI responsibly to improve efficiency and quality
Very strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work effectively in an agile, sometimes even uncertain, and definitely always fast‑moving, environment

Previous experience as a Team Lead, Engineering Manager, or similar role

Technical background in software engineering, cloud, or infrastructure Experience working with agile teams and modern delivery practices

Understanding of cloud‑based or distributed system architectures

Experience leading substantial changes or adoption of department wide initiatives (tools, processes, or ways of working)

Familiarity with AI‑assisted development, analysis, or productivity tools in a professional setting
