Lead Porter is a position responsible for leading a team tasked with ordering, receiving, quality inspection, inventory of product and the redistribution of it throughout the campus for the Food Services department. This individual requires experience with inventory systems, vendor interaction, and data entry. The Lead Porter will assist the Supervisor with generating on-hand reports, monitoring product usage and product waste, quality control upon delivery, and performing product inventory checks. The Lead Porter collects and submits orders to vendors daily and shares the responsibility of training team members on safe food handling procedures, receiving, cleaning, and stocking practices. The Lead Porter must communicate at a high level, be self-motivated, and punctual. This role supports the mission by ensuring the product we receive meets quality standards and is promptly reallocated within the department to allow our culinary team to create a food offering that boosts morale and productivity within SpaceX.
Responsibilities

- →Manage and train porters on proper receiving and storage practices, sanitation, and waste control procedures
- →Identify improper and proper food safety behaviors and communicate them to the team and supervisor
- →Coordinate with the Hospitality team on catering deliveries and product procurement
- →Verify invoices match product received, posting invoices, and monitor account payables and purchase orders
- →Assist supervisor with planning product restocking and water and brewed coffee deliveries
- →Submit monthly and/or quarterly purchasing orders for each vendor
- →Participate in internal leadership and development training
- →Manage checkbook, assist with product mix, perform data entry, and coordinate logistics for the flow of materials
Requirements
~2 min read- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience in a warehouse or food service operation
- 1+ years of leadership experience
- Advanced understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
- Food merchandising experience
- 3+ years of experience with perishable product receiving and stocking
- 2+ years of leadership experience
- 2+ years forklift experience
- Ability to read and understand a Safety Data Sheet
- Experience working within a large team
- Experience in a corporate work environment
- Experience with vendor management and communications
- Valid driver’s license
- High level of professionalism
- Self-motivated and work well with others
- Ability to autonomously manage time skillfully
- Able to observe and instruct team members against policy and standards
- Capable of following and providing instruction in large team setting
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.)
- Must be able to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time – up to 8-10 hours a day
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
- Must have or be able to obtain food handlers card (training provided internally as needed)
- Must have or be able to obtain forklift operator certification (training provided internally as needed)
