Project Engineer is a project-focused role that supports the successful execution of construction projects through effective communication, problem-solving, and process management. This position requires strong coordination with internal and external stakeholders and consistent use of project management technology. As technical and professional skills develop, the Project Engineer plays an increasingly active role in supporting the Project Team, gaining exposure to construction practices, and advancing professional growth within the organization.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all project documentation, including drawings, specifications, Owner and Contractor agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders, correspondence, shop drawings, and submittals; assist in compiling complete and accurate as-built records
• Manage and execute the submittal process using the project management software, ensuring timely review and distribution
• Prepare, track, and maintain Requests for Information (RFIs), including coordinating responses with the Project Manager and Project Assistant
• Solicit and collect pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers for change order requests
• Respond to inquiries from subcontractors and Superintendents regarding scope clarification, drawing coordination, and document interpretation
• Assist with subcontractor and vendor buy-out for assigned scopes of work, as directed by the Project Manager
• Establish and maintain organized digital drawing sets, including hyperlinking and version control for internal and external use
• Support documentation of daily job site activities through the company’s daily reporting software
• Collaborate with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Safety Manager to develop, implement, and enforce the Project-Specific Safety Plan
• Take ownership of project closeout activities, coordinating documentation and deliverables to ensure timely and complete completion
• Maintain professional working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, municipal authorities, and internal company personnel
Responsibilities
~1 min readThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. The Project Engineer may serve as a coach, resource, or support other team members as needed.
The Project Engineer works primarily in a fast-paced office environment and will also visit active construction job sites as required. Site visits and safety training may occur outdoors and may involve exposure to typical construction conditions. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
This position requires extended periods of sitting and regular use of office equipment, which may result in eye or muscle strain. The employee may occasionally be required to lift office equipment, supplies, or materials weighing up to 15 pounds. While visiting job sites, the Project Engineer may be required to climb ladders occasionally and navigate uneven terrain.
This is an exempt, full-time position. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, with an expectation of 40 hours per week. Evening or weekend work may be required based on project needs.
The Project Engineer is primarily office-based but is expected to travel to job sites for meetings, coordination, and inspections. Occasional travel for training or professional development may be required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Basic understanding of information technology and computer-based systems
Nice to Have

• OSHA 10-hour certification
• Experience with construction-related software such as Bluebeam, Viewpoint, Revit, or Microsoft Project
• Experience in commercial or industrial construction environments
The employee must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review. A valid driver’s license is required.
