The Role
St Andrew’s School, Turi is seeking to appoint a Tennis Coach for years 1-13, as well as contribute across all areas of school life.
The successful candidate will be expected to evaluate students' performance, ensuring that all tennis equipment is in good working order, and educating students on Tennis game strategies and good sportsmanship while maintaining a professional appearance at all times. They will also be expected to contribute to the extra-curricular activities of the School.
St Andrew’s School is committed to providing a vibrant co-curricular and boarding program to which all staff contribute. The ability to coach an additional sport will be an added advantage.

There is an overall remuneration package as detailed below (the cost of living in Kenya is significantly lower than in the UK):
Hours of work and holiday entitlement
The role is full-time and includes working in the evening and at weekends as required. The successful applicant will be expected to take a full and active part in the boarding life of the School.

There are some things that are essential to working with us:
- The successful candidate will need to be able to support the School’s aims and Christian ethos.
- Coaching Certification by International Tennis Federation - ITF
- At least 10 years of actively playing tennis at a high level
- Extensive coaching experience
- Experience organising internal competitions and preparing teams for external competition
- First Aid experience
- Experience coaching adults and children of all abilities
- Positive experience working as part of a team
- Previous customer service experience
- Experience working with International Schools is an added advantage.
Knowledge and Experience Qualifications Essential
- Ability to deliver a very high level of fun, engaging, safe and informative tennis sessions
- In-depth understanding of current tennis developments.
- Detailed knowledge of the ITF and Kenya playing system
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students of all ages, management, and other staff
- Ability to lead, motivate and train a team and maintain effective working relationships
- The ability to confidently hold a conversation in English and Swahili
Experience Essential
- Experience of coaching tennis across all ages (Ages 3 to 18 years)
- A proven track record of excellent coaching and student support
- Experience of coaching tennis and any other sporting activity
Skills Essential
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Well developed ITF Coaching skills and certification
- Ability to use a range of coaching techniques to coach the students and teachers
- Evidence of being able to lead, manage and be responsible for initiatives/developments
- Knowledge of current ITF and Kenya Playing System
Safeguarding

- Commitment to the safeguarding and protection of children and to the personal development of our pupils.
- Understanding of the issues surrounding the safeguarding of children and commitment to child welfare and safety
- Knowledge of child protection procedures
Terms and Conditions Remuneration
There is an overall remuneration package as detailed below (the cost of living in Kenya is significantly lower than in the UK):
- Salary: The successful applicant will be placed on the basic Turi Pay Scale, which is then subsidised through paid lessons.
- Accommodation: suitable rent free accommodation will be provided as a taxable benefit.
- Medical care: all members of staff and their families (below 18 yrs) are covered under an insurance scheme.
- Pension: the School operates a defined contribution pension scheme in which the employer and employee each contribute 6% of the monthly salary. For employees leaving Kenya at the end of their contract.....
- Meals: these are provided during term time as a taxable benefit.
- Facilities: extensive recreational facilities are open to use by staff and their families. The onsite Phoenix Club, serving a wide range of food and beverages, acts as a wonderful social hub for the staff community and their families throughout the year.
