This role is a senior-level cost management professional responsible for overseeing all aspects of cost accounting, cost analysis, and cost management within APAC region. This role serves as a strategic partner to operations, supply chain, and leadership to drive cost efficiency, accurate product costing, and profitability optimization.

 

 

Costing:

  • Manage all cost negotiations with the source factories and be responsible for updating internal system with most updated and accurate cost timely.
  • Ensure CBD’s are available timely for all styles in production.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing, and the Source Factories to promote the transparency of costing.  This would include further defining costs for overheads and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing and the Source Factories to help develop a tiered cost system reflective of production complexity and actual incurred costs.
  • Develop and report on costing metrics to include (but not limited to) standard labor rates, average unit costs, standard yields etc.
  • Standardize Labor, overhead, yield etc. targets across factories and regions.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and supervising the Costing team.

 

Factory Operations

  • Collaborate with the Source Factories, Sourcing and US stakeholder teams to work towards long-term sustainable improvements within the manufacturing process as well as the costing process.  This should include utilizing lean techniques whenever possible to drive these changes.  These actual process changes will be linked with estimated actual costs used for the price paid for finished product.  This may include preparing conceptual cost analysis around new strategic initiatives or ventures.
  • Skilled in all aspects of costing construction, product knowledge, business experience, and negotiation skills, resulting in the enhancement and expedition of product costs through the development life cycle from prototypes through commercialization and strategic planning.  This will require being able to work as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Work with appropriate parties on negotiating and understanding costs of production processes (example – manufacture of complex CMF process etc.).
  • Maintain independence from factories and provide an appropriate level of professional skepticism when dealing with factories.  This role must set the standard in this area.

 

Materials

  • Collaborate with Sourcing (materials) to establish metrics around materials testing, qualification, usage and purchasing.  Additionally, work with these groups as part of the negotiation team for material costs and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing and Suppliers to extend lean thinking back to the key supplier level.

 

Policies

  • Responsible for making sure there is appropriate documentation for all procedures and processes to ensure long-term sustainable benefits.
  • Management of Costing standard, policy and procedures. This provides a consistent basis for negotiation of the cost of the finished product.  Expertise in systems implementations, cost analysis and process improvements.

 

Systems

  • Ensure identification and full support for costing system implementations and usage, Supply Chain Management or other defined systems including costing packages. 

 

Management

  • Recruit, train, and develop a professional, independent costing organization responsive and supportive to local and corporate requirements.
  • Drive system implementation, standardized practices, and employee rotation are geared towards clear independence and professional development.

 

  • Expertise with a Product Development PLM management system.
  • Proven talent in hands-on training. Strong research and analytical abilities. Excellent team building and interpersonal skills; work effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Extremely successful in facilitating cooperative relationships among employees and management.
  • Well-developed communication skills demonstrated through professional verbal and writing abilities, client relations, marketing expertise, customer service skills, training new employees, and the ability to produce in-depth reports and correspondence.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, quickly assessing situations and providing solutions.
  • PC skills should include Microsoft office, costing software, Centrics or other PLM system, must have the ability to learn and master new software.
  • Must be multi-lingual (Mandarin/English required).
  • Travel required Domestic and International

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Engineering, supply chain, finance
  • Requires 7 to 10 years of related experience in athletic sports, CPG, or FMCG type supply chain with either OEM and/or owned factories.
