Now Brewing – senior manager, Indirect Tax Strategy & Advisory From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others. As a senior manager on the Indirect Tax team, you’ll play a key role in supporting new products & initiatives, evolving business models, and enterprise-wide initiatives. You’ll serve as a strategic advisor to teams across the business, helping ensure indirect tax is considered early and thoughtfully. This role is about shaping decisions, translating complex tax issues into clear, practical guidance, and owning the work from strategy through execution. As a senior manager, you will: \- Lead indirect tax strategy for new products and initiatives partnering with Tax Operations, Product, Finance, Legal, Accounting, and Technology teams to embed tax into business decisions, advise on risks and opportunities, and help shape outcomes early in the process. \- Act as the lead indirect tax researcher – Analyze complex indirect tax issues, develop well-supported positions, and provide clear research-based guidance to inform business decisions. \- Provide strategic guidance on changing tax laws and policy – Stay on top of new and evolving legislation, assess the impact to the business, and translate those changes into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders and leadership. \- Drive work end-to-end with strong ownership – Take projects from early scoping through execution, ensuring follow-through, clear documentation, and sustainable processes that support tax positions in close collaboration with the Tax Operations team. \- Communicate complex tax concepts clearly – Translate complicated indirect tax issues into practical insights and recommendations that help non-tax partners make informed business decisions. We’d love to hear from people with: \- 10+ years of experience in indirect tax strategy, advisory, research, and planning \- Experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting firm, or law firm \- Strong experience advising the business on complex business initiatives, product launches, or strategic planning projects \- Ability to interpret new tax legislation and determine business impacts \- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders without direct authority \- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate tax concepts for non-tax audiences \- A high level of ownership and a track record of delivering results \- Degree in Accounting, Law, or Business preferred As a Starbucks partner, you (and your family) will have access to medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, and other voluntary insurance benefits. Partners have access to short-term and long-term disability, paid parental leave, family expansion reimbursement, paid vacation from date of hire*, sick time (accrued at 1 hour for every 25 hours worked), eight paid holidays, and two personal days per year. Starbucks also offers eligible partners participation in a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, a discounted company stock program (S.I.P.), Starbucks equity program (Bean Stock), incentivized emergency savings, and financial well-being tools. Additionally, Starbucks offers 100% upfront tuition coverage for a first-time bachelor’s degree through Arizona State University’s online program via the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, student loan management resources, and access to other educational opportunities. You will also have access to backup care and DACA reimbursement. Starbucks will comply with any applicable state and local laws regarding employee leave benefits, including, but not limited to providing time off pursuant to the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act, and in accordance with its plans and policies. This list is subject to change depending on collective bargaining in locations where partners have a certified bargaining representative. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
