Total of 102 hours (84 hours instructional and 18 hours of prep)
9:00am – 4:00pm Monday to Friday (7 hours per day)

Salary
Commensurate with placement on the SMS Salary Grid, based on years of teaching experience & education (TQS Category).
This is a bargaining unit position in the Professional Employees Association.
All candidates must hold a valid B.C. TRB Teacher’s Certificate and be legally able to work in Canada.
Summary
St. Margaret’s School (SMS) is Western Canada’s only girl-centered, independent day and boarding school located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on the unceded traditional territories of the Esquimalt Nations, Songhees Nations, and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations. Founded in 1908, SMS is an international centre for girl-centered learning and leadership development, providing empowering education for girls from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 (boarding grades 7–12). St. Margaret’s School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) School offering the Diploma Programme, and we are a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
St. Margaret’s School is seeking a self-motivated, energetic, and team-oriented teacher to join our small and vibrant school community. As an inspiring educator, this teacher will have a passion for the DP Physics (Grade 11), experience in teaching Science/Physics in the IB Years Programme (DP), strong instructional skills, and a commitment to improving the school through designing and implementing interdisciplinary projects that connect teaching and learning to the overall mission and vision of the school. Duties and Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and deliver a motivating and engaging credited Physics 11 Science course curriculum that aligns with the IB Programme (DP) framework.
- Create, implement, and deliver a motivating and engaging Physics 11 course that satisfy the science requirements for university.
- Foster an inclusive Science classroom by emphasizing belonging and providing supportive, flexible routines and procedures.
- Prioritize differentiation and adaptation strategies in Science instruction in support of a diverse range of learning styles and needs.
- Foster the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of the students.
- Monitor student learning and progress through ongoing formative and summative assessments in Science, providing timely, constructive feedback and fostering student reflection and goal-setting.
- Communicate regularly with parents as required.
Required Education & Experience
- Current and Valid teacher certification through the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
- Bachelor of Education degree with a focus on/experience in teaching Science Physics 11 at the IB DP level.
- Certification and experience to teach in an IB DP Programme setting, with a strong understanding of the DP curriculum design and assessment strategies in Science.
- Minimum three years experience working in an inquiry-based Science setting, incorporating 21st-century teaching strategies, including the integration of technology, data analysis, and experimental design.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with a variety of instructional approaches to meet the individual needs of girls in Science learning environments.
- Superior communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Embodies a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement in Science education.
- Maintains high ethical standards, including confidentiality and professional integrity.
