Success Academy is seeking a highly skilled Vocal Specialist to serve as a Network Music Coach. This pivotal role is designed to drive musical excellence through structured private and small group vocal lessons, elevating individual scholar performance and strengthening our high school ensembles to compete at local, regional, and national levels. By providing elite coaching, you will help open doors to top college music programs for our talented scholars.
Responsibilities

- →Lead weekly 25-50 minute private and small group vocal lessons throughout the day across three high school campuses.
- →Travel to network sites to tutor, prepare, and ensure quality for scholars and ensembles performing at network events (e.g., FOPA, Pride in Performance, Gala, Commencement) or external competitions.
- →Curate and manage a Network Music Library, including purchasing sheet music, acquiring performance rights, copying scores, and cataloging repertoire to support teaching and lesson planning.
- →Provide professional development and coaching to music staff and choir teachers to support instructional quality.
- →Serve as a resident piano accompanist for rehearsals, performances, professional development, and other events, including recording piano backing tracks.
Requirements
~1 min readThe Network Music Coach will be an expert in vocal technique, pedagogy, repertoire, and performance practice, who is adept at teaching both male and female singers, encompassing all ranges, from bass to soprano. They will have expertise in a wide range of genres, from classical to Broadway and contemporary music, and they will be effective at coaching vocal health and approach for both solo and choral singing. They must also possess strong music theory and piano skills.
The coach’s primary workstream will be to teach individual and small group lessons for HS choir scholars, visiting each high school weekly on a rotational basis. Lesson schedules will be coordinated with each school’s choir teacher and overseen by the Network Vocal Music Specialist.
- Travel to school sites across the network as needed to tutor, prepare, and help manage quality of any scholar/ensemble selected to sing at a network event, such at Festival of the Performing Arts, Pride in Performance, the Gala, and Commencement, or at external festivals and competitive events.
- Help Music Specialists curate and manage a Network Music Library of music scores and parts. The Coach would handle the purchasing of sheet music for classes, showcases, professional development, competitions, and adjudications, ensure any necessary performing or arranging rights are properly acquired, and make any necessary copies of the scores/parts for storing and disseminating to teachers and scholars.
- Catalog the material along the lines of Texas’ UIL repertoire list so that our teachers can reference the “grade” of a piece/arrangement when assessing its appropriateness in a showcase. Over time, this library will become an invaluable resource for teachers and scholars to use for showcases, quality instruction, and lesson planning.
- Serve as a resident piano accompanist for any group/ensemble at rehearsals, performances, professional development sessions, or other events requiring live accompaniment. They would also be responsible for recording any piano backing tracks, as needed for scholar practice or performance.
