The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of production materials necessary to support manufacturing operations at their assigned location. This role ensures adequate inventory levels, timely issuance of purchase orders, and efficient transfer of materials between sister company locations. The Buyer works cross-functionally with internal teams and collaborates closely with counterparts at sister companies to align purchasing strategies and support shared organizational goals.
Responsibilities

- →Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels to prevent production disruptions caused by material shortages or overstock.
- →Issue purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with approved vendors, pricing agreements, and budget parameters.
- →Coordinate with planning, production, and warehouse teams to forecast material requirements and align purchasing activity with production schedules.
- →Collaborate with buyers and procurement personnel at sister company locations to share supplier resources, leverage group purchasing opportunities, and align on material standards.
- →Facilitate and manage inventory transfers between locations, ensuring proper documentation, accuracy, and timely execution.
- →Track open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery; communicate delays proactively to affected departments.
- →Evaluate supplier performance on a regular basis, addressing quality, delivery, and cost concerns in alignment with company expectations.
- →Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor files, and transaction documentation within the company's ERP or purchasing system.
- →Assist in identifying cost reduction opportunities through supplier negotiation, consolidation, or alternative sourcing.
- →Ensure all purchasing activity complies with company policies, approval workflows, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- →Support physical inventory counts and reconciliation activities as needed.
- →Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
~1 min read- Ability to work onsite at the assigned manufacturing location; periodic travel to sister company locations may be required.
- Proficiency with ERP or purchasing management systems; experience with [system name] preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open orders and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Annual base salary range: $78,000.00 - $95,000.00
- Bonus target range: 10%
