Position Summary:
Enjoy integrating controls with mechanical systems?  If so, we are seeking an initiative-taking and technically skilled mechanical engineer with hydraulic knowledge to join our engineering team. This role focuses on the design, development, and support of custom hydraulic power units and control systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in mechanical or systems engineering, with experience in both product development and project execution.  From military, hydroelectric power generation, and industrial applications, we do it all!   The team is dynamic, continually challenged, and routinely learning new technologies to support our customers. 
 

 
  • Project Management: Manage a multi-faceted project that includes controls, hydraulics, industrial piping and instrumentation.  Integrate it all together to meet customer specifications.
  • Identify key components and work with purchasing and materials team to procure materials.  Set project schedules based upon material and labor availability vs. customer request dates.
  • Design and improve custom hydraulic power units and control systems, including new system development and modifications to existing system designs.
  • Plan and execute engineering tasks for major project components or moderately complex standalone projects.
  • Select appropriate materials and develop bills of materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and test plans.
  • Respond to customer requests for product changes and design submittals.
  • Provide guidance to technicians during fabrication.
  • Apply engineering principles and practical experience to complete assignments under general supervision.
  • Manage the project to schedule, communicate potential delays, and advise with recovery plans
  • Prepare hydraulic and electrical schematics and develop manuals for startup and maintenance.
  • Perform engineering calculations for pressure, flow, and heat removal to support system design.
  • Provide layout and schematic drawings to fabrication technicians and for final documentation.
  • Contribute to project management by: Monitoring and updating project budgets, Recommending and implementing change orders with customer approval, Coordinating with subcontractors to maintain project schedules, Providing on-site technical support and field supervision, Maintaining documentation and collecting field test data to meet submittal requirements, Attending project meetings and coordinating with all stakeholders.
  • Program PLC control logic for process automation based on customer requirements and future system concepts.
  • Support proposal development and provide engineering input for assigned projects.
  • Develop cost estimates and system design requirements based on customer concepts, specifications, and RFQs using engineering standards and technical references.
  • Offer technical support to sales teams, parts coordinators, shop personnel, and fellow engineers on component selection, system layout, and fabrication practices.
  • Assist with part substitutions to meet delivery timelines and troubleshoot issues during testing.
  • Supervise field service and assist with system startup and commissioning as required by project demands.
  • Follow and support continuous improvement of Business Management System (BMS) procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with hydraulic systems, control systems, and project engineering.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Inventor is considered an asset.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
