Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) is seeking an enthusiastic, safety-focused, and technically competent individuals to join our Engineering & Maintenance Division as an Avionics Technician Trainee. Reporting to the Engineer III – Line or Base Maintenance, the successful candidate will assist in performing safe, efficient, and high-quality aircraft maintenance activities during assigned shifts. Working under the guidance of licensed engineers and experienced technicians, the Trainee will support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, and servicing of aircraft avionics, airframe, and aircraft engine systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications, regulatory requirements, and approved company procedures.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical maintenance skills and technical knowledge in avionics systems while contributing to the safety, reliability, and operational performance of the Company’s fleet.
- Assist with scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance activities to ensure aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition and returned to service within established timeframes.
- Perform routine maintenance inspections, component replacements, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance on aircraft airframe, aircraft engines, and avionics systems using approved procedures, tools, and test equipment under the guidance / supervision of licensed engineers and experienced technicians.
- Assist in inspecting, repairing, overhauling, and modifying aircraft systems in accordance with approved maintenance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Review aircraft maintenance history and technical documentation to support the identification and rectification of recurring defects, under the guidance of licensed engineers and experienced technicians
- Contribute to achieving aircraft reliability and On-Time Performance (OTP) objectives.
- Maintain required technical competencies by completing all mandatory training and ensuring the availability of appropriate tools and equipment.
- Assist with the preparation of shift activity reports and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Assist with aircraft towing and marshalling activities in accordance with approved company procedures.
- Provides appropriate maintenance support consistent with applicable regulatory compliance objectives and the Company’s customer service standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a customer-focused approach when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring zero complaints.
- Comply with all Company policies, approved maintenance procedures, and local and international aviation regulatory requirements.
- Support the implementation of the Company's Safety Management System (SMS) by promoting safe work practices and contributing to the prevention of aircraft incidents and accidents.
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation and records in accordance with approved Company manuals and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to maintaining high quality standards by adhering to established maintenance procedures and supporting the reduction of quality audit findings.
Requirements
~1 min read- An Electrical Engineering Technician (EET) Diploma OR
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License OR
- TTCAA Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License (AMEL) in at least two (2) categories OR
- An equivalent recognised qualification.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's Degree in Aircraft Maintenance and Management or a related discipline.
- Occupational Safety, Health and Environment certification.
- Supervisory Management or Project Management certification.
- Basic Mechanical Workshop Practice training.
- Licence Without Type Rating (LWTR) modules.
- Previous experience in aircraft line or heavy maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical and critical thinking problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- The successful candidate must be legally authorised to work in Trinidad & Tobago.
