Job Summary

The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for controlling and verifying the quality of finished harnesses before they are delivered to customers. This role will lead the inspection team, set inspection standards and tolerances (including go/no-go criteria), document recurring issues, and partner with production leadership to correct defects and keep priority work moving. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set and maintain harness quality standards using customer requirements and the IPC 620 guide; align tolerances/process indicators through leadership. 
  • Train, coach, and monitor Harness Technicians on go/no-go criteria and appropriate discretion; address workmanship issues with the builder’s supervisor present when needed. 
  • Maintain accurate inspection documentation; track recurring defects and where they originate (process, equipment, or workmanship). 
  • Provide detailed quality reports when requested, including trends, root-cause indicators, and recommended corrective actions. 
  • Escalate unclear issues to the Production Manager and Quality Leads supervisor for alignment and resolution. 
  • Partner with the Electronics Assembly supervisor to verify external/aesthetic conditions of controller products (function testing handled by their protocols). 
  • Own PPAP documentation construction and follow-through for John Deere harnesses per Deere DPAR guidance and in-house requirements. This will include several different pages of documentation. 
  • Learn the basics of JDS-G233, JDS-G139, and other John Deere Quality standards. 
  • Continuously improve quality procedures for effectiveness, speed, and consistency as well as training in all aspects of the position. 


Requirements and Skills

  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and practical judgment on harness tolerances, including but not limited to: crimp height, pull testing, and length tolerances. 
  • Clear written and verbal communication; calm coaching style when correcting issues, steadfast in the ability to convey the issue and the reasoning for the correction. 
  • Patience and professionalism when working with technicians and supervisors. 
  • Ability to learn and use required tooling, including braiding and soldering equipment. 
  • Ability to stay on task, manage time well, and maintain accurate documentation. 
  • Problem-solver mindset; evaluates issues, proposes solutions, and drives follow-through. 



Training and Certification

  • Must have completed the WHO and CIS trainings through IPC, and the candidate must be willing to undertake IPC-620 CIT training to become an in-house trainer for the IPC-620 requirements. 



Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct daily activities of the inspection team and set clear expectations for quality checks and communication. 
  • Complete and manage BambooHR items for the inspection team (time off approvals and related tracking). 
  • Coordinate with other supervisors to resolve quality issues and prevent repeat defects. 
  • Review and improve quality work processes; help set team goals and hold the team accountable. 
  • Oversee final testing, finishing, inspection, and bagging for Ag harnessing; ensure External harnessing receives final inspection prior to bagging. 
  • Support priority flow by coordinating with the Production Manager to ensure hot/priority harnesses are finished first and shipped on time. 
  • Collaborate calmly with Team Supervisors and individual builders to identify problems, explain their importance, and demonstrate how to resolve them.

The position will have other duties not specifically defined above that are essential for the overall success of SurePoint Ag.

In addition to the specific duties detailed above, you are expected to provide support and assistance in achieving the overall goals and objectives of SurePoint Ag Systems through collaboration, teamwork and communication.
