Puppet Prop Fabricator

You will be asked to submit two videos, the first video will be an introduction about yourself and the second will be the fabricator audition. Follow the steps below to complete your application.

1. You will need the following tools and equipment: Cardboard or cardstock, Scissors, Duct tape or masking tape, A pencil
   
2. If you have them around, you might also want to use: Hobby knife or boxcutter, Ruler, Drawing paper, Hot glue
3. Watch the instructional video below. We encourage you to watch the instructional video as many times as needed.
4. Record your puppet prop fabricator audition video. Follow the steps outlined in the instructional video.
5. Record a video to tell us about yourself. This video should be a brief introduction and should let us know why you're interested in being a part of this project. (30-45 seconds)
6. Submit your audition. Once you have completed recording your intro and fabricator videos, you will need to upload them to an online hosting site. You will need to provide a link to the videos in your application in addition to a brief performer bio/resume.

• If you choose to password protect your video, be sure to include the password on your resume or in your application.
7. Selected candidates will be contacted for a second, remote-based, audition.

The Puppet Prop Fabricator is a multifaceted artist who plays a critical role in the creation and maintenance of puppet props, bringing imaginative character props to life. This position requires a diverse skill set, encompassing various fabrication techniques. The Puppet Prop Fabricator collaborates closely with team members across multiple departments to ensure seamless production, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• →Puppet Prop Fabrication: Participate in the construction of puppet props using a variety of materials and techniques, ensuring they meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.
• →Material Handling: Utilize an understanding of diverse materials, adhesives, and tools to assemble puppet prop components effectively and securely, with performance in mind.
• →Repairs and Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and on-the-spot repairs for puppet props, ensuring they are production-ready and perform optimally.
• →Sewing and Assembly: Execute basic sewing tasks to attach wigs, costumes, and other accessories to puppet props, ensuring durability and visual appeal.
• →Painting and Finishing: Assist in painting, distressing, sanding, and priming puppet props adhering to project specifications.
• →Power Tools Operation: Safely operate a variety of power tools and crafting equipment to support fabrication and repair processes.
• →Collaboration: Work closely with team members from different departments, offering assistance and filling gaps where needed to support production goals.
• →Problem-Solving: Identify and address challenges that arise during the puppet prop creation process, contributing creative solutions to enhance production efficiency.
• →Documentation: Maintain organized records of processes, materials used, and repairs completed to ensure consistency and quality control.

• Experience: All levels of experience welcomed. Prior experience in fabrication or related fields is a bonus.
• Adaptability: Maintains an open mind, welcomes constructive feedback, and embraces change as part of the creative process.
• Technical Skills: Ability to pick up new skills and learn in the moment. Previous experience in model-making and construction techniques is a plus. 
• Tool Proficiency: Comfortable using hand and power tools; experience with vacuum forming and 3D printing is advantageous.
• Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet production schedules.
