About the role

The Retirement Actuarial team is looking for an Actuarial Associate I to support retirement product pricing. This entry-level actuarial student role offers an opportunity to build actuarial knowledge and technical skills while contributing to analyses that support pricing and product-development decisions.

You will assist with maintaining pricing models, preparing and analyzing data, reviewing actuarial results, and developing reports for actuarial and business partners. Your work will primarily focus on recurring analyses and reporting, with opportunities to support pricing and product-development projects.

You will work closely with experienced actuaries who provide detailed guidance, review your work, and support your development. As you grow in the role, you will expand your knowledge of annuity products, learn actuarial techniques and tools, and progress toward an actuarial designation.

What you’ll do

Provide actuarial support for recurring retirement product-pricing activities and project work.
Assist with maintaining and updating actuarial pricing models, spreadsheets, databases, and other analytical tools under the guidance of experienced actuaries.
Gather, organize, validate, and analyze data used in pricing analyses.
Review pricing model outputs, identify unexpected results, and summarize findings for more experienced actuaries.
Prepare recurring reports and supporting materials for actuarial and business partners.
Assist with profitability, sensitivity, and scenario analyses using established methods and procedures.
Research annuity products and competitor offerings to support pricing and product-development work.
Document assumptions, processes, methodologies, and analytical results.
Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of recurring processes, including opportunities to use automation and AI tools with guidance from the team.
Collaborate with actuarial team members and other business partners to complete assigned work.

What you bring

This is an entry-level opportunity, typically suited to candidates with 0–2 years of relevant experience. Prior professional actuarial experience is not required.

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or a related field.
Foundational quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for organizing data, applying formulas, and performing analysis.
Attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures, check results for accuracy, and document work.
Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize findings and ask questions when guidance is needed.
Ability to organize assigned work, meet deadlines, and collaborate with team members and business partners.
Willingness to learn actuarial concepts and modeling tools, incorporate feedback, and build knowledge of retirement products.
Willingness to explore and use AI tools to improve analytical processes, increase efficiency, and automate routine tasks, while reviewing outputs for accuracy and following company policies.
Commitment to professional development, expanding industry knowledge, and passing actuarial exams toward an actuarial designation.

Preferred qualifications

Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams.
Internship, academic project, or other experience involving actuarial work, financial analysis, data analysis, or modeling.
Familiarity with MG-ALFA or similar actuarial modeling software.
Foundational knowledge of annuity products and their features.
Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, VBA, or similar tools used to prepare data or automate analytical processes.
