Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Implementation Engineer II is responsible for the hands-on delivery of cybersecurity and infrastructure services across client engagements, with support to the wider Cybersecurity & Compliance team.
Technical Delivery & Execution
  • Deliver security and infrastructure implementation projects across the team's standardized service offerings, which currently include:
    • Infrastructure strategy planning, covering assessment of current network and systems architecture and the design of blueprints for migrating to more streamlined environments
    • Security risk assessments that examine IT policies, infrastructure vulnerabilities, and identity security
    • Microsoft Intune deployments to protect and manage mobile devices against threats
    • Securing the Microsoft 365 platform, including Conditional Access policies, Data Loss Prevention, Defender for Office 365, and Information Rights Management
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Microsoft 365, Azure, and cloud infrastructure across client environments.
  • Implement identity and access management controls, including authentication, provisioning, and account governance.
  • Carry out security hardening and remediation that brings client systems in line with internal standards and compliance requirements.
  • Produce clear technical documentation for the configurations and solutions delivered.
Security Operations & Incident Response
  • Respond to security events, including forensic investigation, containment, and rapid vulnerability mitigation.
  • Lead ad hoc remediation that addresses the underlying gaps a breach or incident exposes.
  • Monitor client systems for emerging risk and recommend corrective action before problems escalate.
  • Provide technical assessment and strategy during and after security incidents.
Team Support & Knowledge Sharing
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support to other engineers on difficult or escalated work.
  • Document repeatable approaches and share knowledge so the team can deliver consistently.
  • Assist with onboarding and knowledge transfer as new engineers join.
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment built on shared standards and mutual support.
Project Execution & Coordination
  • Partner with Project Managers to confirm scope, timelines, and technical feasibility.
  • Surface technical risks, dependencies, and blockers early enough to plan around them.
  • Keep time tracking, status updates, and project documentation accurate and current.
  • Move work toward milestones and raise anything that puts delivery at risk.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Take part in technical discovery, solution design discussions, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Translate client requirements into secure, workable technical solutions.
  • Explain technical concepts in plain terms for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stand behind the quality and security of delivered work in client conversations.
Process, Standards & Continuous Improvement
  • Follow established implementation standards and help refine them based on field experience.
  • Contribute to SOPs, runbooks, templates, and quality practices.
  • Identify recurring problems and suggest improvements to process or tooling.
  • Support consistency across the team's security, infrastructure, and cloud offerings.
Above all, the Implementation Engineer II brings real enthusiasm for cybersecurity and for the social mission Tech Impact serves. The role calls for strong written and verbal communication along with the initiative to carry complex work under limited supervision. An eagerness to keep learning as security technologies change, paired with comfort working through unfamiliar problems, is what sets a strong candidate apart.
  • Infrastructure Knowledge: hands-on troubleshooting across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android operating systems.
  • Cloud Ecosystems: practical experience administering and securing Azure, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace environments.
  • Networking Knowledge: working command of core networking components such as DNS, DHCP, routing, IP addressing, subnetting, NAT, and firewalls.
  • Security Concepts: solid grasp of encryption, multi-factor authentication, Data Loss Prevention, SSO and SAML configuration, and API connectors for services such as user provisioning.
  • Sector Familiarity: interest in or exposure to the nonprofit sector or other vehicles for social change.
  • Project Coordination: ability to manage several projects at once under tight deadlines using established techniques.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: willingness to work with other teams on improving service delivery and finding automation that makes projects more efficient, including supporting questions from Sales and Accounting, collaborating with Advisory services, and helping the Support team address client needs.
  • Documentation: contributing to documentation for current and new services and helping keep SOPs current so the team can support clients reliably.
