Staff Nurse

The Staff Nurse in the Interventional Radiology Nursing Unit provides professional nursing care to all people of all ages and their families, in coordination with the Interventional Radiologist.  Assist in various minimally invasive procedures such as X-Ray, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), OR Ultrasound, which may be for biopsies, diagnosis or treatment.  Monitors and examines patients prior to procedures, as well as during and after procedure care.  Administers medications including conscious sedation and assists the medical team as needed during the procedure.   Responsible to all patient’s documentations and procedure notes, ensuring all documentation are completed correctly and in timely manner.

Utilizes knowledge of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and document care.  Formulates nursing diagnosis for treating actual or potential health problems, teaching, counseling and providing care.  Delegates appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel.  Displays professional practice as set forth in The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s standard of care, and the institution’s mission and goals.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited colleges or universities – HIGHLY PREFERRED
• New graduates accepted
• One (1) year in acute care experience – HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer knowledge and skills
• Multidisciplinary team and patient capability.
• Computer application skills – ALLSCRIPTS, EPIC, Microsoft Excel
