Mid PIV Support Specialist


Minimum Experience: Five years of related experience with at least one year of PIV card diagnostics experience.



Functional Description: Conducts identity proofing by verifying and documenting the two forms of acceptable identity source documents provided by the applicant. Attaches the copy of the completed Form I-9 when provided with the DOT F 1681. Reviews DOT F 1681 for accuracy and for authorized FAA sponsor signatures. Fingerprints applicants as needed. Photographs applicants as needed. Collects applicant’s investigative forms (if needed) and provides them to registrar. Documents information into the IMS or CMS identification media systems.

Validates that the registrar (PSS) has authorized the issuance of the PIV card. Issues the ID card using the process specified by FAA authorized personnel including processing remote badges. Notifies applicant their card is ready for pickup. Verifies the applicant receiving the ID is who they say they are by using a biometric fingerprint and delivers the ID card. Provides applicant with information on safeguarding and reporting lost/stolen IDs. Files or scans the DOT form 1681.

Provides assistance as required to other Personnel Security Specialists. As directed by Division Manager, may be required to visit FAA regional facilities to provide Personnel Security Support in the rollout of the PIV ID card process.


Other Requirements: Experience working with PIV provisioning software, PIV Card diagnosis experience is a must. Experience with computer systems, applications and web applications, and Microsoft Office to include Outlook. Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with customers and diffuse potential problems. Must have good organizational skills, be detail oriented, and able to meet agency and customer deadlines.


Minimum Education: AA/AS in related field


Personnel Security Requirements All contractors supporting ASH systems, resources, or information must meet the background investigation requirements outlined in FAA Order 1600.1 (Personnel Security Program) and FAA Order 1600.72 (Industrial Security Program). Due to the sensitive nature of the work performed by ASH, all contractor positions are designated as high-risk positions. As such, all contractor personnel must be willing to undergo an FAA background investigation and complete the following forms:

  • SF-85P – Questionnaire for Public Trust
  • FD-258 – FBI Fingerprint Card
  • DOT Form 1631 – Disclosure and Authorization Pertaining to Consumer Reports Pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act

In addition, contractor personnel supporting ASH classified functional areas, operations, or facilities will be required to complete SF-86 forms in order to obtain a national security clearance. The contractor company itself will also be required to maintain a Top-Secret facility security clearance
