Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients based on individual conditions and established care plans.
  • Assess, recognize, document, and report relevant patient information and changes in condition.
  • Administer prescribed medications and perform treatments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist with gastrointestinal procedures and specialized clinical services, including endoscopy, manometry, conscious sedation, and patient preparation and recovery.
  • Perform or assist with bladder catheterization, pulse oximetry, oxygen administration, EKGs, and other clinic-specific procedures.
  • Prepare patients and assist healthcare providers during diagnostic examinations and specialized procedures.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures and promptly report changes or concerns.
  • Recognize urgent and emergent situations and initiate appropriate interventions as directed while obtaining assistance from an RN or medical provider.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding treatment, procedures, medications, and care requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in electronic health records and other approved systems.
  • Participate in quality assurance, professional development, staff meetings, clinic huddles, and other assigned activities.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, applicable accreditation standards, clinical practice guidelines, and 96th Medical Group policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Citizenship:
    • U.S. citizenship is required for this contract position
  • Education and Licensure:
    • Graduate of a State Board of Nursing-approved LPN/LVN training program or completion of equivalent military training qualifying the individual to sit for the state licensure examination
    • Successful completion of the NCLEX-PN
    • Current, full, and unrestricted LPN license in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
    • Documentation of IV therapy training through an approved educational pathway
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as required by the contract
  • Required Experience:
    • At least one year of active practical or vocational nursing experience in an inpatient or outpatient environment following graduation
    • Required experience must have been obtained within the past 24 months
  • Required Skill and Competencies:
    • Knowledge of nursing practices, patient care procedures, medical terminology, and clinical safety practices
    • Knowledge of HIPAA, patient privacy, customer relations, and patient advocacy
    • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet applications, and electronic health records
    • Ability to accurately enter and retrieve patient information from electronic systems
    • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare personnel
    • Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to emergency situations
  • Work Schedule & On-Call Requirements:
    • Normal services are provided Monday through Friday between 0600 and 1800, with typical shifts of 0630–1530 and a 40-hour workweek. The position participates in a rotational on-call schedule, generally consisting of one Monday-through-Sunday on-call week no more than once every four weeks.
    • During on-call periods, the LPN must respond by telephone within 10 minutes. When physical reporting is required, the employee must be able to arrive at the facility within 45 minutes after responding to the call, or within 60 minutes of the original call
    • Weekends and federal holidays are generally not required except as part of the on-call rotation
  • Physical Requirements:
    • The employee must be capable of meeting the physical requirements associated with the position and assigned clinical duties, as identified at the time of order placement
