POSITION SUMMARY
The Licensed Therapist provides outpatient, trauma-informed therapy services and clinical evaluations to children, adolescents, and adults impacted by violence, abuse, adversity, and complex trauma.
This clinician maintains an independent caseload, conducts comprehensive assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, and delivers evidence-based therapeutic interventions. The Therapist is credentialed with insurance providers, adheres to ethical billing and documentation standards, and meets productivity expectations consistent with outpatient clinical best practices.
In addition to direct clinical care, this role supports the broader mission of Solace by providing clinical support and coordination across Solace programs (Crisis Care, Healing Arts, and Community Outreach) to strengthen continuity of care and survivor outcomes.
THERAPIST JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establishes positive, trusting rapport with clients across the lifespan.
- Conducts comprehensive biopsychosocial and trauma-informed assessments.
- Diagnoses and treats mental health disorders using DSM-5-TR criteria.
- Creates individualized, measurable treatment plans aligned with clinical needs and payer standards.
- Meets with clients regularly to provide counseling, adjust treatment plans, and support progress.
- Utilizes evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, TF-CBT, CBT, DBT-informed interventions, or other trauma-focused approaches.
- Conducts ongoing assessments of client progress and updates plans as needed.
- Involves caregivers/family members when appropriate and clinically indicated.
- Coordinates care with internal Solace services (Crisis Care, Advocacy, Healing Arts) to support holistic survivor recovery.
- Refers clients to outside specialists or agencies when necessary.
- Maintains thorough records of sessions, progress, and clinical decisions.
- Follows all safety protocols and maintains HIPAA-compliant confidentiality.
- Contributes to program improvement and completes related tasks as needed.
INSURANCE BILLING & COMPLIANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Maintain active credentialing with applicable insurance panels (or obtain credentialing within the required timeframe).
- Provide services eligible for third-party reimbursement and follow payer requirements.
- Meet established productivity expectations for billable clinical hours.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and payer-compliant.
- Participate in documentation reviews and quality assurance processes as required.
SUPPORT ALL SOLACE PROGRAMS
This clinician will support integrated service delivery by:
- Serving as a clinical resource across Solace programs.
- Coordinating care for clients who enter services through Crisis Care and transition into therapy.
- Providing clinical consultation to staff as appropriate (within scope and confidentiality standards).
- Supporting continuity of care and warm handoffs between programs.
- Contributing to agency-wide trauma-informed best practices and quality improvement.
WORK HOURS & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, exempt position with a 36-hour core workweek. Some flexibility in scheduling is available based on client and program needs.

THERAPIST QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication and active listening
- Ability to build rapport quickly across age groups
- Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills
- Detail-oriented documentation and organization
- Ability to communicate with compassion and empathy
- Strong time management and caseload prioritization
- High ethical standards for confidentiality, billing, and clinical care
- Comfort working within trauma-informed, survivor-centered systems
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required.
- Must hold independent clinical licensure in South Dakota and be able to bill insurance, including:
- LCSW-PIP
- LPC-MH
- LMFT
- or equivalent independent licensure
- 3+ years of post-graduate clinical experience preferred (will consider strong candidates with less experience depending on licensure and training).
- Demonstrated experience delivering trauma-informed therapy; experience across the lifespan strongly preferred.
- Training in evidence-based trauma modalities (EMDR, TF-CBT, etc.) is highly valued.
