Looking for a job that actually makes a difference – and fits into your day-to-day routine?
At The Lunch Bag, we deliver healthy, hot school meals to children across Ireland. We're the country’s leading school meal provider, and we’re on a mission to help children build healthy habits for life.
We’re changing children’s lives, one lunch at a time. Are you flexible, bubbly, and keen to bring a little extra joy to the school day? We’re looking for people who want to help us keep driving forward and doing something great. Bonus? You’re off when the schools are!
We’re on the hunt for School Lunch Operatives – reliable, cheerful people who take pride in doing things right and bring a bit of warmth to every school day.
Think of yourself as the final link in the lunch chain. All meals are prepared at our headquarters in Nenagh, Tipperary, before being organised and prepared for delivery to local schools.
From there, you'll help make sure lunches arrive safely and on time while helping keep the service running smoothly.
If you’re a detail addict and thought this was a little vague, here’s a list for you:
Load meals safely into company vans
Drive lunches in a company van to schools up to an hour away
Deliver meals in a friendly and professional manner
Support with lunch distribution within schools where required
Collect lunch waste and return it to the Hot Drop location
Follow and maintain work and cleaning schedules
Ensure vans and equipment are kept clean and organised
Follow all health and safety procedures
Training will be provided.
Since you'll be representing The Lunch Bag in schools, we're looking for doers – people who are sound, good-natured, and genuinely care about doing a good job.
We're not asking for bodybuilders, but you will need to be comfortable lifting boxes up to 14kg as part of the role. Some schools may also require climbing stairs.
Working with children is really rewarding – their cute little faces can brighten your day... just don't let them get hungry or they'll turn into tiny monsters!
We're looking for somebody who:
Has a full clean Irish driving licence
Is reliable and punctual
Is comfortable driving and being out on the road
Can work independently and manage their time well
Is friendly and professional when interacting with schools
Can read and understand English
No problem! We’re here to answer them.
This job is offered on a part-time basis, 3 hours a day, Monday through Friday! Typical hours of work may vary depending on school requirements
No! As schools close for the summer, we follow the academic calendar. As a result, you’ll work approximately 183 days per year, with school holidays off to enjoy some well-deserved rest.
Our staff can sign on to Social Welfare as Educational Sector Workers during summer months.
What We Offer
~1 min readWell, for starters – a genuinely supportive team who’ve got your back.
The role is flexible and ideal if you’re looking to ease back into work or want something steady during school terms.
It’s THE question everybody asks!
The same way we take care of the children in schools, we take care of our people too. You will earn €14.65 per hour – 50c above minimum wage.
