Job Title: Communications Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“the Foundation”) is seeking top talent for its Communications Coordinator position. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, this position provides execution and operational support across communications initiatives, with a focus on media relations and policy and advocacy efforts. This role supports tracking media hits, managing journalist databases, publishing website updates and short-form content, in addition to supporting other tactics for integrated campaigns and announcements. Working closely with the Communications team and cross-functional partners, including the Marketing and Public Policy teams, this position helps to ensure projects are delivered on schedule efficiently and in support of organizational goals.
This is a hybrid-flex position that will require in-person attendance at The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s headquarters in New York City.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Communications Execution
- Assist in planning and executing integrated communications campaigns and announcements related to policy and advocacy initiatives
- Upload and publish press releases, blog posts and other content to the website
- Maintain and update resource pages to ensure information is current and accurate
- Draft short-form content for emails, presentations, talking points and internal communications
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Marketing and Public Policy, to gather information and ensure alignment
- Assist in collecting data and content for quarterly reports
- Support routine administrative tasks, including expense reporting and documentation
Earned Media Operations Support
- Act as an information conduit, sharing updates on secured press across internal teams and distribution channels
- Track and compile earned media coverage across the Foundation initiatives, including news articles, blog posts and podcast episodes
- Monitor relevant topics and media trends to inform communications strategies
- Maintain and update media contact databases and press lists
- Track and organize key opinion leaders, spokespeople, and other external stakeholders
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in communications, marketing, public relations, public affairs, journalism or a related field (internships and relevant coursework considered)
- Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Familiarity with media relations, communications campaigns and content execution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in an adaptable, mission-driven environment
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana) is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
Individual compensation for this role is dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, skillsets, and applicable laws. In addition to salary, the Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
