The Trade Desk is seeking a Staff Accountant to be part of the GL team at our headquarters in Ventura, CA. This role will report to the Associate Accounting Manager and will be part of a high caliber Accounting and Finance team. The Staff Accountant will help ensure that all accounting activities are recorded timely and accurately.  We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, pro-active, eager to learn and contribute to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the monthly close process including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions
  • Responsible for all accounting aspects related to Cloud computing and Intangibles
  • Responsible for all accounting aspects related to Fixed Assets: Additions, Depreciation, Disposal, Retirement, Construction in Progress (CIP), Leasehold Improvement (LHI) etc.
  • Research discrepancies and propose adjustments when necessary
  • Review and process prepaid expenses
  • Provide meaningful explanation for monthly variance analysis and quarterly/annual flux analysis
  • Prepare disclosure schedules for quarterly and annual filing
  • Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Provide support for the annual financial statement audit and SOX processes
  • Assist the Accounting team in researching, documenting, and implementing the impact of current accounting convention when necessary
  • Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process.
  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives
  • Assist management with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, public company experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Thrives in a fast paced, high growth environment
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy of information and attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and critical thinking
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, business partners and external contacts to maximize efficiency and results
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Intermediate/advanced Excel skills

In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and location.  All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.  Employees can also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount through The Trade Desk’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is
$58,300$106,800 USD
