As a Software Asset Management (SAM) Licensing Analyst with Business Process Consulting expertise, you are a trusted advisor to clients and internal stakeholders on software licensing compliance, process optimization, contract management, and process maturity. You will leverage your experience in enterprise software licensing and the ServiceNow platform to support software asset lifecycle management while helping design and improve scalable operational processes.
You will work closely with IT, procurement, vendor management, finance, asset management teams, and business stakeholders to analyze entitlement, usage, and deployment data; mitigate compliance risk; and identify cost optimization opportunities. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with major publishers such as Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, IBM, and SaaS vendors, along with strong analytical, communication, and continuous improvement skills. Experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro, Tanium, SCCM, JAMF, CMDB, and related ITAM capabilities is highly preferred.
Manage and maintain software licensing positions for enterprise publishers, including Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, IBM, and other publishers and SaaS providers.
Analyze software entitlement, usage, and deployment data to identify compliance risks and optimization opportunities.
Support software audits, true-ups, renewals, and vendor compliance activities.
Review and interpret software contracts, licensing agreements, and maintenance terms.
Partner with procurement and vendor management teams during software renewals and negotiations.
Maintain accurate software entitlement and contract repositories within ServiceNow.
Utilize ServiceNow SAM Pro to manage software lifecycle activities, including reconciliation, normalization, licensing, and compliance reporting.
Support configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ITAM and SAM processes within ServiceNow.
Collaborate with stakeholders to document current-state and future-state business processes.
Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements aligned with SAM and ITAM best practices.
Support CMDB, asset management, and ITSM data quality initiatives.
Develop reporting, dashboards, and KPIs related to software compliance, usage, and cost optimization.
Participate in cross-functional initiatives involving ITAM, SAM, procurement, finance, and operations teams.
3+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, software licensing, or related IT Asset Management functions.
2+ years of hands-on experience working with ServiceNow, preferably within SAM Pro, HAM Pro, CMDB, or ITAM modules.
Experience managing software licensing for publishers such as Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, IBM, and/or SaaS vendors.
Understanding of software licensing models including subscription, user-based, device-based, cloud, and consumption licensing.
Experience reviewing software contracts, licensing agreements, and maintenance terms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience gathering business requirements and supporting process improvement initiatives.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
Business Process Consulting (BPC) experience, including process discovery, workshop facilitation, or business process documentation, is highly desired.
Experience supporting ServiceNow ITAM/SAM implementations, optimization initiatives, or software compliance audits and vendor true-ups is preferred.
Knowledge of ITIL, IT Asset Management best practices, CMDB, asset lifecycle processes, and SaaS or cloud licensing models is a plus.
Experience working in consulting or client-facing environments and familiarity with procurement and finance processes related to software licensing are nice to have.
Preferred: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
Highly Desired: Certified Implementation Specialist - Software Asset Management (CIS-SAM) or other relevant software asset management certifications (IAITAM, CSAM).
