The Trimble Operator is responsible for performing precise field layout using Trimble GPS and total station equipment to support electrical construction projects. This role ensures accurate placement of underground and above-ground electrical infrastructure, reducing rework and increasing jobsite efficiency.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Operate Trimble GPS, robotic total stations, and layout software to perform field layout
- →Interpret and work from electrical plans, BIM models, and CAD drawings
- →Layout:
- →Underground duct banks and conduit runs
- →Equipment pads, light pole bases, and transformer locations
- →Trenching paths and elevations
- →Verify dimensions, grades, and alignment before installation
- →Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and survey teams to ensure accuracy
- →Upload/download and manage data files from Trimble systems
- →Perform routine calibration and maintenance of equipment
- →Identify and resolve discrepancies between plans and field conditions
- →Maintain detailed records of layout points and as-built conditions
Requirements
~1 min read- 2+ years of experience operating Trimble or similar layout equipment in construction
- Strong understanding of electrical construction methods (commercial, industrial, or utility)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and specifications
- Experience with layout software such as Trimble Access, Trimble Business Center, or equivalent
- Familiarity with GPS, total stations, and coordinate systems
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Requirements

- Background in surveying or civil layout
- Knowledge of electrical systems installation (duct banks, grounding, substations)
- OSHA certification
- Outdoor construction sites in varying weather conditions
- Frequent walking, standing, and working on uneven terrain
- May require travel between job sites
