Tla’amin Nation has exciting job opportunities for Tla'amin students 15 years and older. This year the Summer Student program will run from June 29th – August 28th, 2026. We are seeking a number of students to fill the below positions; please note that more than one student is needed for some placements.

Junior Child and Family Services (CFS) Team Assistant
Reporting to: CFS Manager
The Junior Team Assistant supports the CFS team by shadowing a range of different roles, helping ensure staff are supported in their day-to-day work and operations. The Junior CFS Team Assistant will go through a full staff onboarding and orientation. Some of the services that will be shadowed and supported are: one-on-one support with youth or parents/caregivers, child safety, advocacy, referrals, consultation, art therapy, mediation, and administrative duties connected to these services.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Practicing privacy and confidentiality in a small community.
- Proper file maintenance.
- Frontline experience working with Tla’amin čičuy (children), youth and families.

Junior Cultural Campus and Traditional Foods House (TFH) Assistant
Reporting to: Cultural Campus Manager
The Junior Cultural Campus and TFH Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of ʔɛɬtanmot ʔayɛ (Traditional Foods House) through space organization and cleaning, assistance with food and fish gathering and processing activities, and food preparation for community events. This role helps maintain welcoming, functional spaces that support cultural programming, community gatherings, and food-sharing initiatives.

- Traditional food/fish/plant gathering and processing.
- Culture and language learning opportunities.
- Organizational skills.
- Community engagement.
NOTE: This position requires successful completion of Food Safe and First Aid (training will be provided). The successful student is encouraged to participate in Tribal Journeys with tentative dates of July 16th to 22nd. Exact dates will be confirmed, closer to the journey.
Junior Recreation Worker (3 positions)
Reporting to: Recreation Manager
The Junior Recreation Worker supports the delivery of recreation programs and community activities for čičuy (children), youth, and families through arts, sports, games, cultural activities, and community events. Working closely with the Recreation team, the role helps create safe, welcoming, and engaging spaces that promote wellness, relationship-building, and positive community experiences. Junior Recreation Workers will assist with summer program planning, activity leadership, equipment setup, and participant support while gaining hands-on experience in community recreation and youth engagement.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Experience leading games, activities, crafts, sports, and community programming for čičuy (children) and youth.
- Gain practical experience in recreation programming, client service, and community wellness.
- Learn supervision, safety, and participant support practices.
- Develop communication and relationship-building skills
NOTE: This position requires successful completion Food Safe (training provided). If 18 years of age or older, Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.
Junior Education Assistant
Reporting to: Education Manager
The Junior Education Assistant supports the K-12 Education team with day-to-day administrative and project-based activities that help strengthen student support and departmental systems. This role will assist with transitioning information into new database systems, supporting the creation and organization of cultural resource bins, implementing new consent form processes, and completing general office and administrative tasks. Working alongside the Education team, the student will gain exposure to education operations, information management, and community-based service delivery while contributing to projects that support student success.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Navigating technology systems and databases.
- Gain exposure to cultural programming supports.
- Organizational and administrative skills.
- Build teamwork and communication skills through collaboration.
NOTE: The successful student should be comfortable learning new technology and database systems, have basic computer skills, and be willing to work collaboratively on a variety of projects and administrative tasks.
Junior Guardian Watchman (2 positions)
Reporting to: Lands Manager
The Junior Guardian Watchman supports the Guardian team in helping care for and monitor Tla’amin lands, waters, cultural areas, and community spaces. Working alongside experienced staff, the Junior Guardian Watchman will assist with fieldwork, monitoring activities, public education, safety practices, data collection, and general stewardship responsibilities while learning about Indigenous governance, environmental protection, and cultural protocols. This role provides hands-on outdoor experience and helps build confidence, teamwork, communication, and land-based knowledge in a supportive learning environment.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Gain hands-on experience in land and marine stewardship, including monitoring, observation, and environmental protection practices.
- Develop knowledge of Tla’amin cultural values, territorial responsibilities, and Guardian Watchman protocols and practices.
- Learn field safety procedures, teamwork, and basic outdoor operational skills while working in a variety of environments and conditions.
- Strengthen organizational and documentation skills through data collection, reporting, and supporting day-to-day Guardian team operations.
NOTE: This position requires steel-toed work boots, which will be provided, alongside other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The successful student must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, as there will be a combination of office and field work.
Junior Lands & Resources Assistant
Reporting to: Fisheries Manager
The Junior Lands & Resources Assistant will gain hands-on experience across Tla’amin Fisheries, Forestry, and Territorial Stewardship. This position is an excellent opportunity for a student who enjoys working outdoors, learning, and contributing to projects that support the care and stewardship of ʔəms giǰɛ. Working closely with teams across the Lands and Resources Department, the student will assist with a range of field-based activities and community-focused initiatives while building practical skills, knowledge, and confidence in land and resource stewardship. Responsibilities may include participating in clam surveys, supporting work at the kelp nursery, assisting with cultural heritage activities, and joining forestry walks and other environmental fieldwork. Throughout the summer, the student will be exposed to a variety of projects and experiences that provide a broader understanding of Tla’amin stewardship priorities, and collaborative resource management.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Increased understanding of Tla’amin approaches to land and resource stewardship, including the connections between land, ocean and culture.
- Hands-on experience with field-based monitoring and stewardship activities in fisheries, forestry, and territorial stewardship.
- Improved skills in observing, recording, and organizing field information to support projects, programs, and decision-making.
- Greater familiarity with environmental field practices, including working safely outdoors, following directions, and participating in team-based fieldwork.
- Broader awareness of stewardship priorities, seasonal field activities, and the day-to-day work involved in caring for ʔəms giǰɛ.

Junior Digital Media and Audio-Visual Technology Assistant
Reporting to: IT Operations Manager
The Junior Digital Media and Audio-Visual Technology Assistant will gain hands-on experience supporting live events, including setup, live-streaming, and operation of cameras, audio equipment, drones, and 360° video tools. This role will receive training in editing and producing digital content, along with foundational workplace skills such as communication, collaboration, cultural training, and professional practice in a supportive environment.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Learning to livestream, including OBS, Facebook, simple and complex setups.
- Use of audio-visual equipment including wireless microphones, PA systems, amplifiers, sound boards, projectors, HDMI splitters, etc.
- Photography skills and concepts including use of cameras, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, framing shots, editing.
- Videography skills and concepts including use of cameras, drones, audio capture, filming, and editing.
- Support cultural revitalization with a finished video project to be shared on the Nation’s YouTube channel.
- Use of various software and hardware including Lightroom, iMovie, Canva, DJI Drone, Insta360 cameras, PTZ webcams, Meeting Owl, and more.
Junior General IT Support
Reporting to: IT Operations Manager
The Junior General IT Support role will provide hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues in an enterprise environment while supporting inventory management and archival processes for Nation assets. This position offers exposure to areas such as cybersecurity, AI, programming, Microsoft 365 administration, database management, and computer hardware, depending on the student’s interests.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Hardware and software installation, configuration, troubleshooting of day-to-day devices (e.g. laptops, cellphones, etc).
- Basic configuration knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration portals and tools.
- Experience digitizing and organizing inventory records, cultural records and archives.
- Professional business communication, including the ability to explain technical concepts to users.
- Use of various software and hardware including Adobe Acrobat, Python, JavaScript, VOIP administration, Enterprise CCTV, Network cabling, and more.
Junior Accounts Payable Clerk
Reporting to: Accounting Operations Supervisor
The Junior Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for performing data entry and related duties in disbursing non-payroll accounts payable to individuals and suppliers. The Junior Accounts Payable Clerk will ensure timely and accurate processing of payment documents such as purchase orders, invoices, travel reimbursements, and any other accounting transactions related to accounts payable management.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounting Processes and concepts.
- Experience with Accounting Software.
- Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to share information with consistency and clarity
Junior Emergency Services & FireSmart Assistant
Reporting to: Fire Chief
The Junior Emergency Services & FireSmart Assistant will receive introductory training to help them safely and confidently support Emergency Management, FireSmart, and Fire Department activities. Training will focus on basic emergency services awareness, community preparedness, wildfire prevention, administrative support, public education, and safe workplace practices. The student may assist with organizing materials, updating records, supporting community engagement events, preparing basic communications, and helping with day-to-day program tasks. The goal is not to train the student as an emergency responder in 8 weeks, but to provide a strong foundation in community safety, prevention, preparedness, and support functions.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Understanding of how Emergency Management, FireSmart, and Fire Department operations work together.
- Administrative skills – including Microsoft 360 proficiency.
- Community education, public engagement and preparedness activities.
- Basic Fire Department operations, safety procedures, equipment organization, and teamwork.
- Communication, problem-solving, and time management across multiple departments.
NOTE: This position requires successful completion Food Safe and First Aid Training (training provided). The successful student must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, as there will be a combination of office and field work.
Junior Construction Worker (4 positions)
Reporting to: Construction Services Manager
The Junior Construction Worker will support construction crews with a variety of residential new construction, maintenance, and housing repair projects. The position provides hands-on experience alongside skilled tradespeople and crew leads. Duties may include assisting with carpentry, plumbing, demolition, site preparation, landscaping, painting, material handling and general labour.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Learn to complete projects safely and efficiently while gaining practical knowledge.
- Exposure to new-build projects from site prep to finishing work.
- Basic carpentry, plumbing, repair, and maintenance skills.
- Safe use of hand tools, power tools, construction equipment.
- Knowledge of safe work practices, communication and teamwork.
- Client and service communication with Tla’amin residents.
NOTE: This position requires steel-toed work boots, which will be provided, alongside other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This is a physically intensive position, with majority of work being outdoors in various weather conditions.
Junior Yardworks Worker (3 positions)
Reporting to: Village Maintenance Coordinator
The Junior Yardworks Worker will support the Public Works and Yard Works teams with upkeep, cleanliness, and general maintenance of outdoors community spaces. The position includes grass cutting, trimming, garbage clean-up, landscaping, and supporting ƛaχƛaχay (Elders) and community members with yard maintenance needs.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Experience performing general yard maintenance and landscaping.
- Safe operation of yard maintenance tools and equipment.
- Development of teamwork, communication, and customer service.
- Exposure to public works operations, including how to identify, report, and act on maintenance or safety concerns.
NOTE: This position requires steel-toed work boots, which will be provided, alongside other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This is a physically intensive position, with majority of work being outdoors in various weather conditions.
Junior Water Treatment Plant Worker
Reporting to: Water Plant Manager
The Junior Water Treatment Plant Worker supports the Water Treatment and Public Works team with daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of community water systems and related infrastructure. Working alongside certified operators, the student will assist with routine inspections, facility maintenance, water sampling, record keeping, and general operation support tasks.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Hands-on exposure to water treatment processes, environmental health and safety standards.
- Understanding of public health and environmental protection.
- Increased awareness of career opportunities in water treatment and public works services.
NOTE: This position requires steel-toed work boots, which will be provided, alongside other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Junior Building Maintenance/Groundskeeping Worker
Reporting to: Building Maintenance Coordinator
The Junior Building Maintenance/Groundskeeping Worker will support the Building Maintenance team with upkeep, appearance, and general maintenance of community buildings and surrounding outdoor spaces, including landscaping, minor repairs, painting and cleaning. The student will gain hands-on experience while ensuring community facilities and public spaces remain clean, safe, and welcoming.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Understanding the importance of keeping public spaces clean and safe.
- Experience identifying and reporting maintenance/safety concerns.
- Knowledge of safety practices.
- Teamwork skills.
- Basic maintenance, use of tools and equipment.
- Time management and reliability.

Junior Housing Assistant
Reporting to: Housing Manager
The Junior Housing Assistant supports the Housing team with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks, including tenant relations, filing and tracking maintenance requests, and assisting with general office organization. This role provides hands-on exposure to housing operations through supporting maintenance activities, community and elder support initiatives, rent collection processes, safety practices, and off-lands housing assistance.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Practical knowledge of housing maintenance and community safety practices, including FireSmart and seasonal preparedness
- Administrative skills, including payment and maintenance tracking and paperless filing systems
- Communication and teamwork, including organizing and chairing meetings
- Basic computer skills
Junior Tribal Journey Youth Leader
Reporting to: Culture and Protocol Manager
The Junior Tribal Journey Youth Leader supports the planning and participation of youth involved in Tribal Journeys, including canoe practices, meetings, and cultural preparation activities such as gift making. The role focuses on providing guidance and positive leadership to youth – centering the knowledge that on Tribal Journeys we are not just a team, we are a family.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Youth leadership.
- Experience delivering education and training, including Tribal Journey rules.
- Experience organizing training, workshops and meetings.

Junior Language and Culture Assistant
Reporting to: Culture and Protocol Manager
The Junior Language and Culture Assistant supports the Language and Culture team with the administration and coordination of cultural and language programs. This includes assisting with language recording, editing and uploading materials, organizing and sorting program documentation, and supporting communication with ƛaχƛaχay (Elders) to arrange interviews. The role helps ensure language and cultural knowledge is accurately captured, organized, and shared in support of ongoing revitalization work.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Learn how to record language in a professional setting.
- Experience using editing software and learning how to filter out background sounds.
- Experience organizing meetings and scheduling interviews.

Junior Media Assistant
Reporting to: In-House Multi-Media Specialist
The Junior Media Assistant will support Communications and Culture and Language initiatives through organizing digital media, creating content, and assisting with cultural documentation and storytelling projects. This role includes managing digital assets, producing b-roll, and helping capture community events such as Tribal Journey to support those unable to attend. This position contributes to building a long-term digital archive while providing hands-on experience in media production and community-based communications. Students are expected to engage with ƛaχƛaχay (Elders), knowledge keepers and community members in a respectful and supportive capacity.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Develop skills in digital file organization, data management, and archiving media content.
- Gain hands-on experience in video production, including capturing and assembling b-roll footage.
- Build experience working collaboratively on communications projects and community initiatives, such as the place names campaign.
- Gain exposure to documenting live events and adapting content for social media and community use.
- Learn how to use Adobe Premiere Pro and all the tools it has to offer.

Junior Lund Resort Support Staff (3 positions)
Reporting to: Lund Resort General Manager
The Junior Lund Resort Support Staff will join Resort staff, rotating through a range of activities including:
- Inventory, stocking and merchandizing in the Stockpile Market
- Gas dock attendant—serving marine customers with fuel and receiving payment
- Parking attendant—welcoming and directing visitors to parking locations and monitoring compliance with parking, boat ramp usage, kayak access
- Groundskeeping--maintaining gardens, lawns, cleaning and maintaining grounds and facilities
- Guest services—providing for hotel guests needs as required
- Kitchen & Restaurant support—cleaning, food prep, dishwashing
All positions involve welcoming visitors to the resort and representing the Nation in a good way.

Students must have their own transportation to and from ƛaʔamɛn (Lund) each day and will be expected to wear uniforms. The successful student must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Junior Forestry Worker (2 positions)
Reporting to: Thichum Forest Products Manager of Operations
The Junior Forestry Worker supports forestry operations through a combination of field work, post-harvest activities, and resource management tasks. Working primarily in forest environments, the student assists with activities related to sustainable forest stewardship and operational support. This position provides hands-on experience in forestry operations, forest management practices, and field-based resource stewardship while contributing to the ongoing work of Thichum Forest Products.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Assisting with post-harvest activities, including fire abatement and site clean-up
- Conducting silviculture surveys and forest assessments
- Supporting field data collection and reporting activities
- Working safely in remote and active forestry environments
- Assisting forestry crews and operational staff as required
- Following company safety procedures and environmental standards
NOTE: This position requires caulk boots, which will be provided, alongside other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The successful student must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Junior Farmhand
Reporting to: Blueberry Commons Farm Manager
The Junior Farmhand position at Blueberry Commons provides hands-on experience in local food systems and community-based agriculture, supporting daily farm operations such as planting, harvesting, weeding, cleaning, packaging produce, and preparing items for markets and community initiatives. Students will gain exposure to certified organic farming practices, small-scale food production, and collaborative community projects while working closely with the farm team. This role helps build practical outdoor work skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment, with potential opportunities for project-based learning and light construction work depending on experience and capacity.
Key skills, knowledge, or experience the student is expected to gain include:
- Gain practical experience in certified organic farming, food harvesting, planting, weeding, and produce preparation.
- Develop teamwork, communication, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.
- Learn safe work practices related to lifting, ergonomics, tool handling, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Build knowledge of local food systems, farmers markets, and community food initiatives.
- Develop customer services skills at the Farm Stand, U-pick days, and Farmer’s Markets.
NOTE: This position requires successful completion Food Safe and First Aid Training (training provided). The successful student must be comfortable working primarily outdoors and be able to lift 25–30 lbs, bend, and complete repetitive tasks. Sun protection (SPF), water bottle, appropriate footwear and rain gear are required. Students must have their own transportation to and from Blueberry Commons each day.
