Software Engineer II

We’re looking for a Software Engineer II to join in building the Scheduling product as part of Toast’s Team Management Suite for restaurant employers. You’ll play an important role in the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions that enable restaurant owners to build an optimal labor plan that balances interests in profitability, employee’s desire for predictability and flexibility, and guest satisfaction.

• →Flex your full-stack development muscles with challenging end-to-end tasks in a supportive, collaborative team environment
• →Participate in designing, estimating, implementing, testing, and debugging end-to-end solutions
• →Ship code that has a massive impact on the growth of Toast
• →Learn and champion best practices for development, deployment, and quality life-cycles
• →Actively contribute to product design and feature selection discussions
• →Participate in code reviews to ensure technical implementations meet functional requirements

• Strong foundation in Java, Kotlin or other object-oriented language(s)
• Experience with modern web standards and technologies (e.g. React, TypeScript, REST, GraphQL)
• A proven track record of building partnerships across engineering, product, customer success, and other stakeholders.
• Experience maintaining a high bar for quality, and guiding teams to hold a high bar for the technical quality of their deliverables.
• Strong customer empathy and a drive to make their lives better through a thoughtful user experience, robust technical solutions, and continuous product improvement.
• Passionate about technology and learning new things
• Desire to make continuous improvements to teams and technology
• You are not afraid to tackle big problems and ask insightful questions.
