Salary: Level 6 Step 1 ($3,089.25 bi-weekly)

Reporting to the Land Guardian Manager, the Emergency Planning Officer is responsible for supporting the administration, planning and preparedness of the TH Government’s Emergency Management Plan. The incumbent develops, organizes and delivers emergency preparedness and management education and training programs within the TH Government, and supports the review and updating of Departmental emergency plans. The incumbent works in coordination with the Occupational Health & Safety Officer and Primary Incident Command to support emergency operations and planning.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in emergency management, public administration, project management or a related discipline, along with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience; an equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
- Experience collaborating with Citizens and Indigenous knowledge holders in integrating Traditional Knowledge and TH culture with programs and services is an asset.
- Knowledge of environmental, land and resource issues, development activities, legislation and regulations affecting Yukon First Nations.
- Knowledge of emergency management theories and practices.
- Experience in leading stakeholder and intergovernmental collaboration is an asset.
- Experience in leading, mentoring and coaching teams is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in sensitive or high-pressure situations.
Conditions of Employment:
- Criminal Records Check.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license with clear driver’s abstract.
- ICS100/200 training.
- TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
