At Trunk, our mission is to help teams create high-quality software quickly. We've helped engineerings teams at: Google X, Zillow, and Brex to understand why their builds fail, which tests are flaky, and how to ship code faster without sacrificing reliability. AI has made writing code 10x faster, but shipping is still painfully slow. The bottleneck has shifted downstream - to merge conflicts, flaky tests, inconsistent code quality, and dozens of other frictions that drain productivity and morale. Engineering teams that can stay focused on designing, implementing, and delivering software will build magical, high-quality projects - and they'll be happier doing it. We're building a CI Reliability Platform that empowers teams to land code faster and develop happier.

Our founders launched Trunk in 2021 after designing, delivering, and scaling software at Uber, Google, YouTube, and Microsoft. We raised a $25M Series A led by Initialized Capital (Garry Tan) and a16z (Peter Levine), with investments from Haystack Ventures, Garage VC, and the founders of GitHub (Tom Preston-Werner), Apollo GraphQL (Geoff Schmidt), Algolia (Nicolas Dessaigne), and Peopl.ai (Oleg Rogynsky).

We're looking for a Senior Developer Advocate to own developer awareness and engagement—driving top-of-funnel metrics that convert to pipeline. You'll be the face of Trunk in developer communities, on conference stages, and across content channels. You won't just create content; you'll measure what drives demos and optimize relentlessly. CI reliability is an emerging category without an established playbook—you'll help define how developers discover and talk about it.

You have one strategic objective: drive developer awareness. The responsibilities below reflect our current thinking - but we expect you to challenge, refine, and evolve these tactics as you learn what resonates. What matters is developer reach and interest; how you get there is yours to shape.
  • Own events and speaking: Attend and deliver talks at developer and platform engineering conferences. Own the event strategy, build relationships with organizers, and partner with Sales on lead capture and follow-up. Expect ~30% travel.
  • Drive content production: Own the pipeline from ideation to publication—technical blog posts, webinars, demo videos, case studies. Work with engineering for technical depth; you own the output.
  • Embed in developer communities: Show up where platform engineers talk shop. Surface insights to Product and GTM weekly; turn community presence into inbound interest.
  • Own docs and onboarding content: Ship improvements based on friction you discover. Docs are a conversion lever - you're accountable for their quality.
  • 3-5+ years in developer advocacy/relations with hands-on engineering background
  • Proven conference speaker (share links to recorded talks)
  • Strong technical writer with published work that developers read & share (share samples)
  • Community native with measurable reach (tell us where and how many)
  • Metrics-driven: you've optimized content/events based on data, not vibesLived the pain of flaky tests, slow CI, or merge hell firsthand
  • Experience marketing to platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure teams
  • Prior work at a dev tools company
  • Existing relationships with conference organizers
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Work-life balance
  • Lunch ordered in on us at the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Few meetings, so you can ship fast and focus on building

  • All insurance is 100% company-paid ($0 premiums) for employees and highly subsidized for dependents
  • FSA, HSA with company contributions, and pre-tax commuter benefits
  • 401(k) plan
  • Paid parental leave ( up to 12 weeks)
  • Please send some samples of your technical writing, tutorials, videos - can add as CV to your application.
  • The salary and equity range for this role are: $140K - $190K and .1% - .3%.
  • Please note that the compensation range provided is a general guideline only and is subject to change based on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • 45 Minute call with our Lead Recruiter to learn about your background, what you're looking for next, and talk about Trunk's GTM Team
  • 1 Hour call with Hiring Manager/Head of GTM to go through your portfolio
