The Role

We’re looking for a talented and motivated Tax Manager to join a fast-growing, innovative professional advisory firm working with closely held businesses in the automotive retail, construction, manufacturing, distribution, and other for-profit industries. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, entrepreneurial person with a team mentality and strong technical accounting and tax knowledge. You will be responsible for leading tax engagements and supervising a team of support staff. Our position provides a unique opportunity for significant growth within our firm, working directly with business owners and their financial professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a strong portfolio of auto dealership clients, in addition to engagements across other industries
  • Occasional travel to auto dealership industry conferences across the U.S. - typically 3 per year in notable locations (such as Las Vegas, Napa, and Charleston)
  • Provide initial and/or final review support for federal, state, and multi-state individual tax returns for corporate business owners and high net worth individuals
  • Build client relationships and serve as trusted advisor to effectively deliver superior client services
  • Identify opportunities for value-added services and potential cross-selling of other firm services to existing clients
  • Exemplary leadership skills and the ability to mentor, train, and develop staff members
  • Support partner team in practice development; including attending conferences, networking events, and training and speaking engagements

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience preparing and reviewing corporate and individual income tax returns
  • Active CPA or EA
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Proficient in project management including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and research
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Integrity within a professional environment

Preferences

  • Experience with CCH Axcess tax and Knowledge Coach
  • Familiarity with automotive retail industry
