Chief Accountant

Join our team as Chief Accountant and help virtualize biological experiments to accelerate discovery! 

We are on a hunt for a kickass Chief Accountant to help us supercharge our Accounting / Tax function, who enjoys building processes, simplifying and improving operational efficiency, also acts like the go-to Accounting Expert and compliance stronghold in the organization. 

What will you do? 

• Own Management reporting and the monthly closing process entirely and be the Accounting safeguard when it comes to new complexities  

• Act as the primary point of contact and professional stronghold of Accounting related questions  

• Be responsible for the annual closing of the company, assist and cooperate with auditors and accountants to get unqualified opinion audit reports and audited Financial statements  

• Review bookkeeping, invoices and payments, supervise them in line with local policies, regulations and guidelines  

• Coordinate day to day Accounting operations, act as a mentor for junior team members 

• Be responsible for the reporting of HU and UK taxes including VAT, corporate taxes, etc. and the relative tax return and claims, in line with local policies  

• Deal with business partnering including statutory auditors, external consultants, payroll agencies, tax authorities, banks, and other institutions  

• Take ERP developments to the next level to ensure the highest level of automation and lowest level of human errors in our accounting processes 

What are we looking for? 

• Have hands-on experience in UK GAAP and/or IFRS, HAS standards  

• Encounter Consolidation/Group Accounting and/or Tax compliance challenges in your journey so far  

• Turn Excel into a piano capable of hitting the high notes of the Matching Principle  

• Have a degree in Accounting, Finance or other related fields with a major in Accounting, Finance or related subjects (Master degree is preferred)  

• Obtained ACCA/Chartered Accountant certification  

• Have 10+ years of relevant experience in Accounting, 3+ years of proven track record as a senior expert in this domain 

Nice to have… 

• Have experience with R&D grant applications and administration (both HU and EU agencies) 

• Worked on UK R&D tax credit applications; understand HU KIVA/TAO tax optimization opportunities 

• Know the world of venture capital and how a fundraising looks like, how a venture-backed company operates 

• Gained Startup / Scale-up / SMB experience ie. working in a fast-paced, nimble, sometimes chaotic and high-pressure environment
