This exciting role as Information Technology Intern will provide support for desktop/laptop computers and peripherals which includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal performance in a production environment.  Additionally, will troubleshoot reported problems in a timely and accurate manner and provide end user training/assistance when required.

This position will support the US Air Division located in Fort Smith, AR. This position requires 15-20 hours per week, flexible schedule, during the standard business hours of Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. This internship is NOT summer-only.

  • Install, configure, and set up new computer hardware including printers.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade software.
  • Support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems.
  • Move computers and peripherals from one office location to another and assist in data migration duties.
  • Provide connectivity of PC hardware to the LAN (local area network) and Wireless
  • Troubleshoot routine software and PC hardware problems, perform minor repairs and coordinate servicing needs.
  • Lift and carry moderately heavy equipment for installations and moves.
  • Maintain familiarity with technical standards, policies, and procedures and ensure adherence.
  • Update and create process documentation.
  • Work after hours as necessary to minimize business interruptions (system outages, troubleshooting, system upgrades, etc.) and provide non-business hour support (both remote and onsite). 
  • Currently enrolled for Bachelors Degree in IT or related field.
  • Strong customer service attitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft applications
  • Minimum grade point average of 2.5.
     

  • Preferred 6 months experience as Associate Network Administrator, Help Desk Administrator, or other position of equal or lower job grade in an IT Department.
  • Skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Basic networking knowledge – Network Interface Cards, Ethernet, Wi-Fi
