The UMBC Department of History offers an undergraduate major, minor, a minor in Public History and a minor in East Asian History, as well as the Master of Arts in Historical Studies and an Accelerated Bachelors/Masters Program. Graduate students interested in careers in historical sites, government agencies, museums, and other organizations may choose the Public History Track option in the M.A. program. We encourage active learning and research experiences in the many museums, historical societies and government agencies in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. History majors may compete for Undergraduate Research Awards and publish in the UMBC Review. Graduate students participate in the annual Graduate Student Conference each spring. The award winning UMBC History Faculty are recipients of prestigious research awards. They have particular expertise in the public history, the history of inequality and justice, the history of globalization, and political and policy history. |

| Position Overview: |
The Academic Program Specialist is most students' and visitors' first point of contact to the Department. The Academic Program Specialist provides critical information and support to help promote the Department and ensure smooth operation of its core functions.They independently coordinate a variety of operational tasks involved in the day-to-day administration of the Department of History. Key responsibilities include tasks supporting faculty promotion and tenure, student admissions and registration, and program marketing and publicity. |

| Salary: |
Pay Range (minimum: $22.44 per hour / maximum: $29.68 per hour) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. |
