About the Role

The University of Tasmania is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Library Officer to join the Library & Cultural Collections team in Launceston. This role plays a key part in supporting students, staff and the broader community by providing access to high-quality learning and research resources both online and across physical library spaces. Working collaboratively across multiple teams, the Library Officer will deliver client-focused services, assist with the acquisition and metadata management of library resources, including copy cataloguing, maintain library collections and spaces, and provide excellent customer service in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Experience in library or information services, along with an understanding of resource management processes, will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in facilitating access to learning resources and collections, including reading lists, transcription, resource sharing and copyright services
  • Acquire and make resources discoverable by sourcing and maintaining bibliographic and metadata records across multiple systems
  • Deliver high-quality customer service across multiple sites, both face-to-face and online, in line with Library and University policies
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including academics and student services staff
  • Support the coordination and training of casual staff, including providing basic supervision on routine tasks and projects
  • Contribute to a positive team environment through active participation in meetings, projects and team initiatives

­What we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge of resource management processes for acquiring, describing and making discoverable scholarly information resources.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including proven ability to interact positively and effectively with a diversity of clients online and face to face.
  • Experience with working independently and as part of a team, showing flexibility and initiative.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, ability to follow standard procedures, and produce ahigh quality of work through attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Minimum Year 12 or equivalent, or completion of a Library/Information Diploma with relevant experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Current Australian Driver Licence
  • Holds Working with Vulnerable People - Employment

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 4 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $91,488 comprising base salary within the range of $73,814 to $78,195 plus 17% superannuation.
