Position: Upside Preschool Elementary After School Program Coordinator

Reports to: Upside Preschool Director

Status: 20-25 hours, Part Time, Non-Exempt


Overview/Purpose:

The Upside Preschool (UP) is a non-profit associate of Park Collective, where we believe that good things can flourish. The Upside Preschool Elementary After School Program is dedicated to providing excellent quality after school care for local elementary students at a reasonable cost. The program is a branch of Upside Preschool which is a Christian Preschool and as such will reflect those Christian beliefs through Biblical instruction, activities, and the actions and behavior of the Staff. It is a place where children of all socioeconomic and faiths are welcome.

 

The Upside Preschool Elementary After School Program Coordinator’s responsibilities include: day to day coordinating of a safe, loving and quality elementary after school care environment, following the established policies, procedures and systems, and having open and positive parent interaction.

 

The Upside Preschool Elementary After School Program Coordinator reports to the Upside Preschool Director and works closely with the Upside Preschool staff.

 

The Upside Preschool Elementary After School Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following:


  1. Leadership of the Elementary After School Climate
    • Maintain connection to Upside Preschool and Park Collective, through the Upside Preschool Director and ensure that Upside Preschool Elementary After School Program remains aligned with the mission and values of Upside Preschool, Park Collective, and Heights Church

    • Maintain an open and friendly relationship with staff members.

   2. Licensing and Compliance

    • Coordinator should have proper experience and education as required for state licensing which should include one or more of the following:
    • HS diploma and 6+months experience
    • Associates or Bachelors in ECE or similar field
    • NAC/CDA/CCP certificate
    • Coordinator will be required to attend 18 hours of training per year
    • Coordinator will be required to have a current first aid and CPR training card/certificate
    • Coordinator will be required to pass a background check and have a level one fingerprint clearance card.
    • Coordinator will be updated on their vaccinations and have a negative TB test.

   3. Program Development

    • Develop activities to meet the needs of the children enrolled.
    • In coordination with the Upside Preschool Director, establish the schedule and structure of a program that embodies Christian beliefs that promotes fun and engaging activities that are appropriate for the elementary children and their environment.


  4. Parent and Community Relationships

        • Maintain positive and professional Parent / staff relationships, maintain open communication and personal interaction with parents both in person and through the ProCare app.

        • Work alongside the Upside Preschool Director to Plan and create events to gather Parents and families and promote healthy, fun activity and create a community feeling with Parent support and participation

        • Maintain open communication with Upside parents/guardians to deal with situations that arise and, when necessary, meet with the Upside Preschool Director and parents/guardians to resolve situations further.


      QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS


      • Demonstrates a heart and passion for children

      • Working knowledge of childcare regulations and safety practices

      • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with disciplined attributes

      • Must be versatile and collaborative team player

      • Organizational skills with attention to detail

      • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks. Be able to prioritize effectively.

      • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and co-workers

      • Ability to manage and resolve conflict with an attitude of humility

      • Proven ability to use good judgement and ability to maintain confidentiality

      • Ability to handle emergency situations with a professional and confident demeanor

      • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ

      • Theologically and doctrinally aligned with Heights Church on important matters

      • Demonstrates evidence of a Christ-like attitude in words and actions, with humility

      • Must meet AZ State requirements for a Lead Teacher

      • An understanding of children and their developmentally appropriate needs

      • A clear background check, fingerprint and safety check is required

      • Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications

      • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
