We are currently seeking a hands-on, tech savvy Payroll Specialist to join the downtown Calgary head office on a temporary basis to support the day-to-day activities of the Payroll team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurate and timely full cycle employee payroll processing and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll, privacy legislation, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Track, audit, and reconcile timesheets; resolve discrepancies and queries promptly.
- Prepare and distribute quarterly and ad-hoc time off reports.
- On and offboarding activities.
- Provide excellent user support for internal payroll systems and processes.
- Respond to and resolve employee pay queries and other ad hoc payroll related activities.
Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- PCP designation or nearly completed all courses combined with experience.
Experience
- Five or more years of related experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of employment standards and payroll legislation in BC, AB, and ON.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, nested formulas).
- Superior attention to detail.
- Ability to act with discretion when handling confidential information.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and critical thinking.
- Explorer Eclipse software experience considered an asset but not required.
- Self-motivated, results driven, and able to work well under time constraints.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a temporary position based at our Calgary office with a 5-day work week, 8-hour days.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Payroll Specialist reports to the Payroll Manager.
