ROLE
WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit a Procurement Coordinator. The Procurement Coordinator is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the delivery of materials, equipment, and services required to support WHC's Pipeline, Facilities, Power, and Corporate operations. This role works closely with project teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activities are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with company policies and project requirements. The Procurement Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining supplier relationships, supporting project schedules, and ensuring timely procurement of goods and services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Procurement & Purchasing
    • Source and procure materials, equipment, tools, rentals, and services in support of company operations and project requirements.
    • Obtain and evaluate vendor quotations to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
    • Create and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies and approval authorities.
    • Monitor purchase orders from issuance through delivery and resolve any discrepancies or delays.
    • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and operations teams to understand procurement needs and timelines.
    • Ensure purchased items meet project specifications, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
    • Support procurement planning activities to align with project schedules and budgets.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.
    • Evaluate supplier performance regarding pricing, quality, responsiveness, and delivery.
    • Assist in identifying and qualifying new suppliers to support business growth and project needs.
    • Resolve supplier issues related to shipments, invoices, product quality, or service concerns.
  • Cost Control & Compliance
    • Support cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing and vendor negotiations.
    • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
    • Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, purchase orders, and vendor documentation.
    • Assist with audits and procurement reporting as required.
  • Inventory & Logistics Coordination
    • Coordinate delivery schedules and logistics to ensure materials arrive at project sites when needed.
    • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with operations to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
    • Track material receipts and work with accounting and project teams to resolve invoicing discrepancies.
  • Collaboration & Reporting
    • Work closely with Project Management, Operations, Accounting, Payroll, Equipment, and Warehouse teams.
    • Provide procurement status updates and reports to project stakeholders.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes and systems.

Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or construction-related experience required.
  • Experience supporting construction, energy, industrial, EPC, pipeline, facilities, or power projects preferred.
  • Experience managing purchase orders, vendor relationships, and procurement documentation.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Understanding of purchasing and procurement principles.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as COINS or similar procurement platforms preferred.
  • Ability to analyze pricing, contracts, and procurement data to support business decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is based at our Lafayette, LA office. Travel to project sites may be required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Procurement Coordinator reports to the Purchasing Manager.
