About The Role 

Heavy Civil Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations on large-scale infrastructure and site development projects. 

The role focuses on day-to-day leadership of crews and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality and specification standards. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and coordinate field crews, foremen, equipment operators, and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient project execution. 
  • Collaborate with project leadership to develop and execute work plans, schedules, sequencing, and resource allocation for construction activities. 
  • Monitor daily progress, maintain short-term and long-term schedules, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track. 
  • Champion a strong safety culture by conducting safety meetings, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. 
  • Ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, quality standards, and contract requirements while maintaining accurate project documentation and reporting. 

 

Basic Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • 5+ years of construction experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory, foreman, or leadership role. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and schedules. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments. 

 

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • Experience managing civil construction activities such as earthwork, grading, excavation, utilities, paving, or concrete work. 
  • OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, or other construction-related safety certifications. 
  • Experience with project management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Knowledge of quality control processes, inspections, testing requirements, and production tracking. 
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
