The Pre-Analytical Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to provide support to all internal and external customers, in the routine functions to ensure client satisfaction and appropriate records and materials management are consistently maintained.  This individual must work with staff to employ a team approach.  Manages customer/patient support staff and oversees special projects assigned by manager. This position is for our San Diego office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the same tasks as Senior SP in addition to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for daily operations of sample management which includes pre-accessioning, accessioning, transportation of samples to-and-from outside histology lab and internal laboratory and block return
  • Identify problems with specimen types, missing information, etc. and assign the issue to the appropriate ancillary department or in some cases resolve them
  • Demonstrate an understanding of compliance policies related to test ordering, test requirements and rejection criteria
  • Track internal and external errors and report deficiencies per protocols
  • Processing and maintenance of client supplies with supply vendors and marketing team. (requisitions, shippers, mailers)
  • Responsible for training, coaching, supervision, on-boarding of new hires and development of staff
  • Develop and monitor on-going performance of employees, provide corrective action and counseling as required.
  • Hold regularly scheduled meetings for dissemination of all department and corporate information to staff
  • Manage time and attendance of employees
  • Prepares schedules and maintains adequate coverage
  • Investigate/resolve and respond to customer complaints
  • Prepare metrics for monthly quality meetings
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff
  • Reflects good judgment at all times when determining necessary actions to resolve problems
  • Adheres to company values, safety and compliance policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills fostering a positive environment
  • Assist in the development of SOPs to meet client satisfaction in all areas of responsibility
  • Work with management team to develop strategic plans to meet commercial goals and objective
  • Performs all other assigned duties as directed by supervisor

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably
  • 3-5 years’ experience in laboratory accessioning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs
  • Repetitive movement of fingers (typing and/or writing)
  • Sitting, with occasional walking, standing, stooping and moving about
  • Exposure to general office environment conditions
  • Talking and hearing
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience, skillset, geographic location, industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

$79,000$85,000 USD
