The HVAC Air Conditioning Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems within the CSL. The technician ensures that these systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
To achieve optimal system performance, the technician is responsible for conducting thorough maintenance and diagnostic tasks. This includes performing regular inspections, identifying potential system inefficiencies or deficiencies, and implementing corrective actions when necessary. These procedures are designed to detect issues at an early stage, preventing system failures and reducing downtime.
A key responsibility of the HVAC Air Conditioning Technician is the implementation of preventive maintenance strategies. These activities are performed in accordance with contractual obligations and best practices within the industry. The technician is tasked with scheduling and performing inspections, diagnostic tests, and system calibrations to identify and address emerging issues before they lead to significant system failures. This proactive approach supports HVAC systems in maintaining peak efficiency, improving energy conservation, enhancing air quality, and extending the service life of the equipment.

Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Ensures the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of all HVAC systems, including air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration, in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- →Performs routine inspections and assessments of HVAC systems to identify potential issues, malfunctions, or components that require repair or replacement.
- →Applies in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems to accurately diagnose and address operational issues, ensuring optimal system performance and minimizing downtime.
- →Executes timely and effective repairs or replacements of faulty components, adhering to all safety protocols and industry best practices. This includes mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks related to HVAC system functionality.
- →Conducts preventive maintenance to ensure long-term system reliability and prevent significant malfunctions, including inspecting filters, coils, and refrigerant levels.
- →Ensures all HVAC systems comply with regulatory standards and guidelines, maintaining compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and facility requirements.
- →Utilizes advanced technical skills in electrical wiring, plumbing, and HVAC system repair to install and maintain components, ensuring the overall functionality and efficiency of the system.
- →Maintains accurate records of inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities, providing detailed reports as required by facility management and regulatory bodies.
- →Collaborates with other team members and departments, including Facilities and Environmental Health and Safety, to address HVAC-related issues, contributing to a comprehensive and safe facility operation.
- →Responds promptly to HVAC system failures or emergencies, implementing corrective actions to restore system functionality and minimize disruption to facility operations.
- →Uses drawings and schematics to analyze and isolate system malfunctions.
- →Troubleshoots malfunctions.
- →Repairs or replaces components.
- →Maintains hand and powered tools and equipment.
- →Maintains shop tools and equipment.
- →Solves maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, wiring and schematic drawings, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics.
- →Develops and establishes operation and maintenance procedures to ensure maximum efficiency
- →Performs planning activities.
- →Performs facility surveys.
- →Surveys proposed work to determine resource requirements.
- →Prepares cost estimates for in-service work.
- →Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
~2 min read- High School Degree or vocational training, plus 2 years of direct HVAC experience. •
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Embassy Security Clearance
- Must have and maintain a valid Salvadoran driver’s license.
- Must be able to successfully complete and pass a drug/alcohol test.
- May be required to take a medical evaluation by a company approved physician.
- Must have a safe driving record, as defined by corporate policy, to operate a corporate and US Government vehicles.
- Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (heat, high winds etc.).
- Proficient in office automation software (MS Office, Word, Excel, PPT., Outlook).
- Must be able and willing to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements, to include off-hours, weekends and holidays.
- Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 15 lbs.
- Works at heights - climbs ladders, poles, works on roofs etc.
- Wear respiratory equipment when working around asbestos or in confined spaces
- Lift and carry tools and equipment which could weigh in excess of 15 lbs.
- May work in confined spaces and where asbestos might be present, requiring following safety procedures and using appropriate respiratory equipment
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Requires up to 10% travel

- Follows up on suspense items to ensure timely completion.

- Ability to work independently while maintaining quality performance.
- Must follow prescribed standards of dress, hygiene, and conduct while representing VERSAR.
- Resolves problems promptly with minimal adverse impact
