The Director, Performance Growth is the public-facing strategic lead for Viral Nation’s performance marketing practice in new business and across our broader book. This role owns the performance narrative in pitches, drives cross-functional adoption of paid media across the agency, and ensures Viral Nation is always bringing forward the next generation of performance opportunities to clients. The role partners closely with Strategy, Business Development, and Client Services to embed performance media into every integrated marketing plan.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary face of Viral Nation’s performance marketing practice in all new business opportunities—leading discovery, strategic positioning, and final recommendations in pitches.
  • Own end-to-end performance strategy for new business pursuits, including audience approach, channel mix, measurement framework, budget allocation, and projected outcomes.
  • Partner with Strategy, Business Development, and Client Services to ensure performance media is fully integrated into every marketing plan presented to prospects and existing clients.
  • Drive cross-functional education of performance marketing across Viral Nation—elevating internal fluency in paid media value, capabilities, and outcomes among non-performance teams.
  • Lead the adoption and expansion of performance marketing across Viral Nation’s existing book of business—identifying organic growth opportunities and building the case for expanded scopes.
  • Mentor and coach existing performance marketers on strategic best practices, client storytelling, and senior-level engagement—elevating the practice’s overall strategic posture.
  • Stay at the forefront of new performance marketing opportunities—platform alphas/betas, emerging channels, measurement innovations, and AI-enabled capabilities—and proactively bring them to clients and pitches.
  • Maintain strong senior-level relationships with platform partners (Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Reddit, and DSPs) to ensure early access to product and partnership and certification opportunities.
  • Partner with senior account leadership to identify performance angles within existing client scopes and convert them into incremental revenue.
  • Develop and maintain Viral Nation’s performance marketing point-of-view, capabilities deck, and case study library in collaboration with Marketing and Business Development.
  • Represent Viral Nation at industry events, panels, and partner forums—building the agency’s external reputation as a performance leader.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the Performance Marketing team leaders on practice-level growth bets, capability investments, and emerging opportunities worth building toward.

Requirements

  • 6-8 years of performance marketing experience across paid social, paid search, and programmatic, with at least 3 years in a senior level role.
  • Strong agency-side experience, with a proven track record of leading performance strategy development and presentation. New business pitch experience preferred.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills—demonstrated success partnering with Strategy, Creative, Business Development, and Client Services on integrated marketing plans.
  • Deep expertise across paid social (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Reddit), paid search (Google, Performance Max), and programmatic (Display, Video, DOOH).
  • Strong understanding of measurement frameworks (attribution, incrementally, MMM) and the evolving privacy and signal-loss landscape.
  • Excellent executive-level communication and storytelling skills—able to translate technical performance concepts into compelling business narratives for senior client stakeholders.
  • Experience building and delivering pitch content—strategy frameworks, channel recommendations, measurement plans, and forecasts.
  • Established senior-level relationships with key platform partners and a working knowledge of partner program ecosystems.
  • Proficiency in the Google/Microsoft Suite and project management platforms (monday.com, Asana, or comparable).
  • Strong commercial instincts—able to identify revenue opportunities within existing accounts and articulate the business case to clients.
  • Comfort operating in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with frequent context-switching across pitches, existing clients, and internal initiatives.

Compensation progression is tied to demonstrated performance, expanded scope, and sustained contribution over time, not tenure alone. Employee compensation is reviewed regularly through formal performance reviews and check-ins to ensure alignment with role expectations and impact.
